The C-suite brains are getting so rotted, they can't resist yelling out the quiet part 10-15 years ago it would be unimaginable to see this sort of statement get out without a whistleblower helping along

this is the exact same tone as all the Q+A segments at the end of corporate all-hands meetings I had at my last job. "the simple fact is, we did it at your expense because not doing it at your expense wouldn't have done what we wanted it to do"

If I walk into a store and they spray me in the face with a water bottle like a cat, then force me to opt out of that treatment next time I come to the store, I simply wouldn't go to that store anymore.

To me the biggest confirmation here is that the tech corposdo in fact no longer see themselves as creating products/services for their users, and have fully committed to this being all about what they can exploit out of their userbases. For shareholders. We truly are the product now.

See....this makes me more suspicious. Obviously that's the reason, but the fact he didn't try to hide it makes me wonder if maybe that's *not* the reason. But either way, is the fact that no-one wants this enough of an indicator not to do it!?

The tech industry has a history and tradition of making things mandatorily suck, who started this tradition? Not important, what is important is that things are gonna suck more from now on, and it we see no reason it can't suck even more in the future, as is tradition.

You may be thinking, why didn't the waiter ask before putting shit in my food? Well, if we asked, no one would want to have shit in their food.

This is more a "why did you bring my food on a soggy napkin" situation. "Well, you didn't tell me whether you wanted a plate or a soggy napkin, so I had to go with the default" "Why is the plate not the default and why isn't there an option for a *dry* napkin?!" "Everybody's doing it" "...No?"

Nah he’s all over it on LinkedIn. He just doesn’t care that people don’t like it. “You’ll all see soon” kinda guy. He’s frustrated in the announcement because he knows they’re gonna yell at him.

See, now I'm just curious what the hell he meant by "I think most of you probably can appreciate this." I don't. I knew that would be the answer and there is no appreciation for it in my heart
