I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.
My child loves going to the library and checking out a new video game every week. Going digital only eliminates libraries as a way people can access games.

Rising costs would have made a PS6 prohibitively expensive anyway but at least now with this move I don’t have to be so bummed that I can’t afford one. Retro games and PC only going forward I guess.

I'm curious to know if this is a common thing with gamers; do you need to be hooked immediately to enjoy a game? Bloodborne is one of my favorite games of all time and yet it took me installing and deleting it like 3 times because I just bounced off it the first few times.
The games that have captured me for hundreds or thousands of hours landed their hooks in the first 15 minutes, if not less. An hour into Marathon I’d seen nothing compelling. Just not for me, which is no big deal. Still, knowing that, I’m not going to pay to give it a second chance.

A timeless classic, and the soundtrack rules. You wouldn't think emo and racing would go together but oh they do.
Burnout 3 is underrated as one of the very, very best games of all time because you can show Burnout 3 footage to people two decades later and their reaction will still be "hell yeah, this rules. I wanna play this right now."
