By the third kid, my default question while watching him was "will this land him in the hospital?"
Why, yes, as a matter of fact, it did.
Once took him to the ER and the staff actually recognized him and remembered his name.
He was...something else.
That was hubby. Of course his mom was also a nurse at the hospital. there were jokes.
Me, my ER file was a shelf. But no broken bones amazingly enough. Just lots of stitches from dumb stuff.
Just got back from a cub scouts camp weekend, where we had an absolutely lovely time, but also I learned if you're watching the reaping/sowing tweet 5x per day, you should be grateful your kids are the smart kind, becase there are *absolutely* parents out there dealing with it 5x per hour.
This happens at lightning speed with my four year old.
The reaping nearly always occurs before I've managed to finish the sentence explaining why the sowing isn't a great idea.
At least kids are (hopefully) learning about cause and effect and will, over time, adjust their behaviors accordingly. Unlike, say, many adults in this country.
Today:
“Honey, we need to get a move on, it’s 1 o’clock,” I said.
“It’s 12:59!” was the response.
“That is all you,” said my husband, very helpfully.
There was no getting a move on until that darn clock flipped to 1:00.
My roommate was a summer camp counselor for little kids. If they complained about the other kids, she'd say, "[Kid name], worry about [kid name]."
One day, she corrected a kid for lagging behind the line or something similar, and he said, "[Roommate], worry about [Roommate!]"
One of the most parent experiences is comforting a sobbing child after they get hurt doing exactly what you told them not to do because they would get hurt
And they always hurt themselves when you’re already near your breaking point. “We’re already late, JUST WALK NORMAL”
*hop*
*spin*
*SLAM*
*tears*
And then you just have to hope you’re able to summon enough self control to not go “YOU SEE!?” while they’re actively crying
