It's sort of wild that the US president declares war and announces peace deals 3-4 times a week now and it's just...barely even news any more? Could it be unhealthy? Who can say!

Update: No deal, back to war, Trump says.

This whole thing is looking more like the Peanuts football clip. Except this time the part of Charlie Brown is played by Trump while the part of Lucy ...is also played by Trump.

Its sort of wild that it is accepted as perfectly fine for him to do this without any apparent push back from anyone. I know his approval ratings are way down, but can't imagine any previous Presisent acting this way (at all really) without serious questions being asked.

I am puzzled as to how anyone in the real world can make sure any country does not develop any weapon. Ever. The thump of Trump is now the sound of silence. Beyond funny. Just pitiful.

I think he probably does post using his voice. Can you imagine his little hands actually typing all that? He certainly wouldn’t bother with all the punctuation. You can hear the eyeroll as he said Oman. God knows what he actually thinks it is.

Indeed. I recall there was (anecdote/legend/folklore!) a comment from Bush after 9/11: “We are going to invade Afghanistan. Where is it?” And to think back to those heady days and recall we thought he was the worst we would get…

Sadly James I completely disagree with you, if only it was barely even news. It starts in the morning & gets repeated every bloody hour 🙄https://bsky.app/profile/andrewrait.bsky.social/post/3ms6cfocc5c2u

Dear News editors (& I'm looking specifically at you @lbc.co.uk/BBC) Save news bulletin time correcting your previous report on what Donald fucking Trump said by not including his pointless drivel in the first place 🤨

The amount of times the BBC homepage leads with a 'Trump says' headline is unreal. As if anything he says is worth listening to.

in england they seem to have taken that literally. the joke in France is they are pumping so much into the channel, migrants will be able to walk over soon. hastings, england - the arsehole of Europe.

Unfortunately he has clocked that he (and his brood) can benefit on the upsides and downsides of each of these announcements + sell access to the Truth API, creating an incentive for this type of crazy zigzag...

Politicians frequently tell us they’re not going to “give a running commentary” on an issue, to avoid questions. Trump, however, is the living embodiment of a running commentary.

I’m sorry, we interrupt our mention of a discussion for breaking news: in a new Florp, the president has announced a new, let’s see, Sunday night, so, “shape of a peace deal process” has been “intoned”. He cited no evidence in support and we asked none, but here to repeat this is Maddy in DC, Maddy?

I think it makes some sense if you assume that he wants the war to be over, but isn't ready to accept Iran's terms quite yet. The capabilities of Iran and the US are so asymmetric that it takes time to find the new equilibrium.

My dad could remember feeling a bit meh when VE day was declared and he was in the RAF in India. He felt fantastic on VJ day, knowing he'd survived. I think declaring war AND peace twice a week, every week, would have irritated him a little

It is the global market manipulation of oil each week. Trump makes the rules, breaks the rules, and Congress ignores him. World leaders do their best to ignore Trump as well. They are busy fast tracking solar and wind. Let the USA pollute itself and stop inspecting its food supply.

Iranians also got better at jerking him around. Each time he tries to own the cycle with these baseless PR declarations, blow something up to publicly remind him the other side has a veto.
