i really love how inscrutable the fucking Enter the Matrix launcher is...what is any of this shit. "allow gamma". "force object lod". force it to what. on? off? min? max? what is meant by w-buffer. what the fuck is Classical FPS

Classical FPS clearly sets the frame limiter to 35 fps, like in Doom, the Classical FPS

i can't remember every playing this, but the menu feels intensely familiar. i wonder if other games had it as well, or if i just played the demo or something

a W-buffer is like a Z-buffer the difference is that Z-buffering allocates more bits to the middle of the render window whereas W-buffering is uniform and I can only assume Force Object LOD means forcing it to minimum given the age of this game

W buffer is actually like.. a more accurate z buffer.. rather than storing non-linear values, it divides the distance between the near and far plane in to even chunks, so it's a little more accurate with depth distribution

Which is one of the main reasons everyone I know first launched the game, didn't understand what any of this means, did some random settings and then launched to game to see a car ride on square wheels

I played this game on xbox and I'm so glad I did now hahaha W-buffer is a scaled Z-buffer field to give better distribution of precision I'm guessing "Classical FPS" has to do with a less accurate way of calculating frames per second I'm guessing force LOD means force max LOD? lol

"particle threshold" what the fuck do you mean. is it the max particles? what happens on either side of this threshold. it goes to 100. that'd be weird for a count. is it a percent? what percent of what

Allow gamma: disable to speed up rendering by setting every pixel to (0, 0, 0, 0) Force object LOD: When disabled, objects have no LOD. All geometry is rendered as fixed size billboards regardless of distance W-buffer: makes quaternions simpler by reusing the same W component for everything
