I’m still American, too. I try to focus on the third of the country that is composed of really great people doing good work to hang in and oppose all the crap from the maga third.

So far as I know, there is no Treehugger other than somebody occasionally shuffling the deck of old posts. I wouldn’t mind looking at that for Substack though. And hi Kim!

Sure. Let’s chat. I just did a talk at the passive house Canada conference. The project is at foundation stage. Fortunately our current mayor didn’t rescind the passive house density bonus while trying to gut the city’s other climate actions

Congratulations! If you happen to get to the East Coast, try the fish&chips at the South Shore Fish Shack on the harbour in Lunenburg ! 😋

It's very much a no-frills kind of place with an outdoor deck overlooking the harbour. Very memorable. More into haddock than poutine though! Cheers

"It's Not just you...Many American-Born citizens Have moved to Canada. There's lots frustration here, So much so, that some American-Born citizens Openly express hate for America. This is very unfortunate. Am I tried to America's very dramatic brokenness? Absolutely...But I Yet Don't hate America."

"Canada has a very interesting disposition. Obviously it's connected to America, Primarily the Southern border of Canada. And Yet...At the same time, Canada is really trying to distance itself, from America. America is plagued with very dramatic troubles. Many people have given-up on it."

I worked as a sole practitioner after grad school in 2005, then started my design/build company in 2009. We employ ~15 people designing and building infill eco-homes, mostly in and around Vancouver.

Cheers to Vancouver. It’s far too expensive and has some real challenges, but it’s a beautiful place with a community that supports green building innovation and (at times) does good work for cycling. This morning I rode through a newly opened plaza and path replacing a segment of roadway.

Curd & 'regular' cheese prep differ slightly. Firm & wobbly, curds generally retain their shape, don't melt down into a 'sauce'. When fresh, they have a definitive squeak. No curds- you're eating chips & cheese, not poutiine. BTW, fresh curds are a most excellent, squeaky snack on their own.

Oh putain ! Looked up the etymologies of poutine/putain to see if there was a connection. After sorting through the AI slop, I discovered there isn't, but poutine (Québécois mess) may be an adaptation of pudding (maybe from French boudin, a small sausage), and that poontang may come from putain.

Here’s to 10 more years of maple syrup running through your veins. 🇨🇦Congratulations!! My son-in-law is from Montreal. We don't deserve Canadians, honestly. But we sure are glad he claimed us. J’adore Canada! 🍁
