Like. You realize if this is true it means that RAINN has been lying to donors that their money is going to help survivors, when it isn't. That's just the logical conclusion.

Unspeakably angry

History is full of people and organizations that choose to "pre censor" themselves to appease a would be dictator, but the result is usually the opposite, the dictator wannabe is emboldened and goes more extreme in their ideology and actions. We should not appease Trump by giving up our ideals.

There was someone from the RAINN speakers bureau who posted on LinkedIn last week that their story was removed from the website (they were LGBTQ+ I believe). RAINN said they were taking down all the survivor stories to “update” them.

This is horrifying and cruel.

RAINN needs to realize they're going to lose federal funding regardless of whether or not they're trans/non-binary inclusive this admin views what they do as unnecessary, there's nothing to be gained by capitulating or lost by not capitulating

Also a certain group that is pretty much the most common victim statistic for that on top of that.

No one who would do this to any survivors can be trusted to save anyone. They have proven that they are an org that claims to save rape victims that will abandon groups of those victims at the behest of a rapist. No one is safe with them

Thank you for documenting this. You are doing good work! Have you considered creating offline copies of these things as a backup? ideally with at least one copy in the care of somebody located outside of the United States?

not saying anything new here, but, Jesus this is a disgrace. As someone who has worked at nonprofits her whole life, even the ones run by good individuals are institutionally cowards. Because always beholden to funders. We cannot count on them.

We are already seeing it with transgender people (again), immigrants and the disabled. Next, they'll probably go after gays in general then other marginalized demographics before the ultimate goal of subjugation towards women as a whole. You can't pass misogynistic laws until you make it normal.
