not really, especially when you look at the indie numbers. what it does show is just how insular, cult-like, and anti-constitutional the Republican party has become - 95% approval is a dictatorial level that most despots don't even bother to pretend to get.

They are ... but I would also suspect that people that need to hear about the bad things are in a bubble that keeps them away from reality.

Or that people are engaging with the first two AI bots promoted by Meta (these being shown to me despite my Instagram feed of music, art and leftist politics)

54% of Americans ages 17-65 read at sixth grade level or lower & 24% of the rest are virtually illiterate. Teaching of the Humanities was abandoned some 40 years ago when education was reduced to “how much $$ da ya wanna make?” even at our “best” schools.

Or that lots of people are actually ok with most of the stuff he's doing. Folks don't seem to understand that we never stopped fighting the civil war and that, since 1866, the Confederacy has won more battles than they've lost. Democracy and the rule of law aren't valued by many Americans.

It really sucks from a disinformation / authoritarian standpoint. No common touch point, no shared set of facts, just algorithmic vibes.

no the numbers suggest the polling companies changed polling demographics to match the 2024 election results.

I’d argue the media is doing exactly what they intend to do, being conservative, not the Republican lie that MSM are liberal.

Perhaps but I'd also suggest it's because traditional media no longer reaches people in many significant ways and traditional media coverage therefore doesn't move the needle

Have had this problem for decades but seriously wonder what The Village of media executives with fingers on news reporting are thinking. Are they oblivious to what’s happening/the path we’re on? Terrified of Trump? In the bag for Trump? Don’t give a shit? Think they’re doing a great job????

And also that the Democrats aren't doing a sufficient job of acting like anything's wrong. Need to actively push to make Trump unpopular, e.g. hang a shutdown around his neck, ESPECIALLY when you know mainstream media is in the tank for Trump.

I suppose that's better than the alternative.

And the skew in respondents having a partisan lean vs. independents isn't surprising - the poll was conducted via phone and via online survey sent out via text message. So self selection is going to bias it towards people who have strong political opinions and want to talk about them

How many people have no locally managed newspapers and no local radio? How many have no access to non-MAGA news media?

And that large swaths of the country willingly and knowingly voted for authoritarianism, economic chaos and foreign policy retreat, and like it.

Doll processes these figures in a less optimistic manner. Given the ownership status of mainstream media, it seems like the media are succeeding to obfuscate what is actually happening. Taking into account Bonhoeffer's "Theory of Stupidity" makes things even bleaker.

Approval ratings take time to go down. Other polls have him in the low 40s. These numbers are quite low for a president 2 months in.

Yep. When the poll asks if they approve of him on Border Security/Immigration with zero context about violating court orders that oppose him on those actions you’re going to get those responses.
