"At a sentencing hearing, Hastert admitted that he had sexually abused boys whom he had coached." Meisner, Jason; Coen, Jeff; Gutowski, Christy (April 27, 2016). "Dennis Hastert, former U.S. House speaker, sentenced to 15 months in prison". Chicago Tribune.

hey you've got a minor typo there no not the D left off from the name, the part where you say "fouled by allegations that he had" He EXPLICITLY ADMITTED IT as part of his plea! There's no "presumed innocent *after pleading guilty to sex abuse in open court*" standard of journalism, you lunatics!

Hastert was not "fouled by allegations", his VICTIMS bravely came forward and spoke out. "later fouled by allegations" is so disingenuous that listeners/readers should genuinely consider not consuming your works. wtf?!

He was not "fouled by allegations". This is journalistic malpractice. He quite literally admitted to being a child molester and a sexual predator, you absolute failures of humanity.

Pretty shameful that "longtime republican who went to prison" doesn't narrow down the field that much.

Oh, dang, "fouled" by his pesky proclivity for raping children? Hey, NPR, if you would have led with his crimes, maybe you would have spelled his name right. Are those Mossad "content advisors" charging extra for spell checking or something?

Unfortunately no convictions on sexual abuse due to statutes of limitations. Journalists tend to follow old rules. NYT continued to use Mrs or Miss for women for years after Ms. was introduced. Both the AP and NYT have published guides. Value in consistency for the reader?

Perhaps he was chosen for his known indiscretions, more extortable, kinda like the pre-Epstein era of GOP quid pro quo placements? It’s a pattern…

NPR, your "journalism" is fouled by AI and a complete lack of anyone HUMAN actually spell checking or proofreading the slop you now pass off as news. Do better, this is why PEOPLE need to be writing, not AI agents and a lazy person adding their name, pretending to do journalism. Piss poor slop.

"Allegations" = Hestert made a plea deal with prosecutors, he pled guilty to felony structuring charge (which he used to pay his victims hush money) & they dropped the false statement charges. During the sentencing hearing, he admitted to molesting boys as a HS wrestling coach but he wasn't charged.
