There are strong claims that ICE has been detaining an American citizen who was born in Florida. Phillip James, 39, has been detained for at least 10 months. He's currently in Indiana facing deportation to Jamaica. 🧵

Just found out Trump's EO of Mar '25 made English US official language. Ok minor thing, maybe add indigenous languages over time as we deTrumpify things. BUT the EO also removes mandatory accommodations for non-Englsh-speaking people. Which changes priorities. Everything is worse than you thought.

what gets me is that every time the assholes lose, their lives aren’t actually worse off in any meaningful way. they get to be grumpy about stuff that doesn’t concern them, but they don’t lose any rights and they still own everything. but when they win, everyone who’s not them suffers.

Winnewissa Falls in Pipestone National Monument. I love our public lands and want them to remain preserved for future generations, so I’m voting with that in mind. I’ll be voting straight-line Democratic, because it’s the only way to put a check on the movement that wants to sell them off.

It is outrageous that many self-imagined liberals ran from Walz because Trump yelled "fraud, Black people, Somalis." There was some fraud, as is the case everywhere, but there is zero evidence that it was especially large compared to other states.

This article (and Slade's book) are fan fiction. Trumpism isn't a break from Reaganism, it's the intended result, a gov't by, for, and of corruption, lawlessness, racism, and misogyny. That's why Reaganites with power—Thomas, Alito, Kennedy, McConnell—worked hard to empower and entrench Trumpism.

I’m disgusted by today’s press coverage, which mostly just regurgitates the DOJ press release. The story should be that a) they indicted the guy who got shot, not the guy who shot him and b) previous attempts by ICE to blame shooting victims have all been lies, so no reason to believe this. Shame.

STOP! Do not treat this cover story from ICE and DOJ with any credence whatsoever. So far, they have lied every time about what led to a shooting. At most, this suggests that the ICE agent who shot Wilber Garcés Pérez did so in anger, and had no body camera. wapo.st/4xP6VyM
