Every company that has purchased Warner has run into financial problems and had to divest itself of Warner at fire sale rates. Most of the buyers ended up being bought themselves. The clock is ticking on Oracle.

David Zaslav put WB in debt to the tune of $55 billion. How did that work out? David Ellison has now put WB into $85 billion in debt. The two David's were/are hell bent on destroying Hollywood legacy studios. The question is, will Ellison's daddy bail him out when the ship starts sinking (again)?

His Daddy doesn't have much money for bailouts. Oracle's credit rating is right above junk, and they just had to declare force majeure on a datacenter because "whoopsie we didn't get permissions".

CBS has been removed from our TV digital guide for almost a year since MAGA Barri staged her 60 Minutes coup. It's been quite satisfying. Guess HBO is next. Oh well the shows kinda suck now anyway.

I don’t get it. These are all production studios. Tens of thousands of creatives. But all NOT under contract. I guess they have big buildings and equipment, but most everything is rented by the project. Seems REALLY vulnerable to disruption as an asset class.

Paramount's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery marks a major consolidation in the media landscape, promising expanded content synergies while also raising concerns about market competition and diversity of voices.

I remember my college Media teacher doing a unit on Concentration of Ownership of the Media. It seemed more theoretical than prophetic, but looking back, boy was it instructive. Now we have it, and by wealthy, anti-democracy Fascists.

Everybody under one roof... the level of entertainment and news media consolidation here is just insane. Skydance now controls a massive chunk of the global culture and news.

Everyone remember to thank Gavin Newsom. Oligarchic billionaires sure are, for his constant protection of them before anyone else 🫡

The only voice and vote we have is with our wallets and our attention. Cancel. Do not watch. Seek out other sources. The viewer counts for the reboot of the emasculated 60 Minutes sent a clear message. Make this move a financial failure.

During the roaring 20s right before the Depression, company stores were common. Employees borrowed and spent at the company store for everything including groceries. This is a version of it where news and entertainment are controlled by the company. Anti-trust? Forget it! bsky.app/profile/nyti...
