Europe may begin selling U.S. assets in response to a new conflict with the US—a move that could trigger a dollar collapse, Bloomberg reports. Deutsche Bank analysts warn Washington’s key vulnerability is living off global financing—and Europe may decide it no longer wants to bankroll the U.S.

9.1 trillion dollars are held by foreign entities. Selling even a large part of them would collapse the stock market, the dollar would plunge and the US would go bankrupt…sorry to say it, but it might be the best way to start over.

The problem with that is that it would also drag down markets worldwide and would be just as damaging to the EU and Asia. Just the threat of doing it would likely drive down the US market.

China was ALREADY getting rid of theirs! They are very pragmatic and decisive in decisions, which should have been a red flag to others BUT instead they chose to buy and are NOW realizing why!

I’ve TRIED to warn others about how societies, institutions, cultures, and economies collapse. Their ignorance and arrogance in believing a country this size and modern is impervious to this reality has led us to a rapist pedophile friend felon POTUS, record deficit, chaos, & now this…

Trump is trying to destroy the economy. China is already dumping US treasury bonds and if Europe joins in thinking the US is not a safe investment and sells the US bonds they own the US economy will crater as interest rates skyrocket. The next 5 years will make the 70's look like the good old days.

Swap all your US investments into gold or silver. They will go down too, but you will manage to save at least 70% of it, in stead of loosing it all. Never mind the barking dog. (Trump) Keep an eye on the silent ones (Europe) Those are the ones that will eat you raw.

Selling a small portion would be a smart move. It would quickly get the financial powers to call Trump up and ask him what the fu$@ he’s doing? And they’d tell him to back off the Greenland rhetoric.

It's imperative that GOP senators act to stop this. It's also surreal that we've reached this point. It might be too late though. It's mho that trust in the U.S. is irretrievably broken, even if the Senate somehow manages to step in.

Peter Thiel wants US dollar to collapse Want crypto to be the standard that replaces it Peter Thiel wants Greenland to build his utopia cyber city 'Praxis'

JD Vance is a Thiel protégé Thiel foisted Vance on Trump JD Vance, like Thiel, thinks democracy is done, wantS to see America dismantled and the US Dollar replaced by crypto as the global standard

And they can control the crypto and bankrupt governments, businesses, civilians with just a few manipulations Control of global economy

Hell, I don't even want to bankroll this country and I live here. There needs to be some serious action taken on voters having a say in what their taxes fund when Dems take over. No more leave it up to the politicians to decide.

Old econ guy here...if we thought covid quant easing inflation was bad, wait! And there is no domestic production in many areas of the economy to replace the items we'll lose from overseas markets. As so many have done before, the only way out of it for the US is war; a "go and take it" mentality.

That's not a way out. We couldn't control Afghanistan, how the heck could we control half the world? Our credit is already way overdrawn. It will accelerate the end of this nation/empire. We either neuter Trump, put him out of office or things will get much worse.

They should consider the USA under conservative, Republican fascist Leader Lord Dampnut is a close ally to Russia and a foe of democratic Western Europe. If you enable that lot, they will help Tsar Vladimir to make military moves in the east by weakening opposition, running supporting plays.

Oh well. MAGA & our spineless GOP Congresspersons need to touch the hot 🔥 stove, I guess. But hey, Brooke Rollins says we can easily live off of a corn tortilla, a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli & “one other thing”. That, and the chickens 🐓we‘re supposed to keep in our backyards.

We stand with Greenland We stand with Denmark We stand with NATO #PissOffDictatorTrump #CanadaStrongAndFree #ElbowsUp 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

That sounds way more dramatic than it is—the debt will be bought— but it does create some big problems, namely, higher interest rates (Trump will love that) but worse, lack of confidence in future bonds. And when you are in debt like the US, you HAVE to be able to sell that debt.

May ? Are they just threatening ? Or are they already fearing the consequences of such a collapse on us Europeans ? (I would support the move even though we might suffer from it … but we don’t have the choice !)

Surprise! If you act like a skunk at a garden party, people start staying away from you. Most Americans I've met are nice people. So I hope all those nice people decide that they've had enough and make an effort to get out and vote in Nov. and kick out the 'Sleepy Congress'.

Go ahead and do it. The wealthy will lose. The rest of us have less to lose. Wonder what the Republicans in Congress will think. Uh oh.

Anyone else lost faith in Americans, not just America? To stop this they would have to march and strike but they complain about loosing jobs... is your democracy less or more important than your job?

1956. US threatens to cash in the bonds, U.K has to back off in the Suez Canal. it officially ended the U.k as a super power. Those bonds were worth 64.7 billion in today’s money. The US Is indebted 94 billion to just Europe. Much more if you use other NATO countries.

Sorry I put billions I meant trillions. 25% of the U.S deficit is owned to foreign countries. US owes Japan over a trillion dollars. (1.2 trillion) The UK 888 billion, China 682 billion. Canada 472 billion. Etc etc

Prolly the smartest move Europe can make. Destroys the US without shedding a drop of blood. Since the US dollar will become worthless, what currency shall we pivot to? (Finally! A use for all those Pogs still stored in your mom’s attic! 🤣)

This would be awful, apocalyptic in both short and long term really, for both the US and the global economy- but honestly what other options do we have at this point? Nobody else has been willing to do anything meaningful- hitting their pocketbooks seems to be the only thing these people understand

US is 37 Trillion dollars in debt, while they bully the world with being a superpower. Go ahead, try to take Greenland: Canada,China and NATO could dump their US treasury bonds and cripple them economically. Wouldn’t matter how big their military is. PM Carney knows this. Thanks Tik Tok Trevor.

Why bankroll a nation that is actively threatening you? This is incredibly dangerous of course as it isn't just NATO or the EU that holds US$ assets. This kind of sell-off can quickly become a route.

Leading to US economy cratering which leads to mad king toddler baby lashing out and unless some generals prevent his orders from being carried out, we have US missiles landing in Europe. We’re starting to spiral. He needs to be stopped.

I believe I stated I would support such action. What I also said is, it isn't as simple as it sounds. I agree he is insane. Also note, if there is a sell-off, global interest rates will go up. Selling countries see their own currency go up (bad for exports).

Also, countries with currencies egged to the US $ would see their economies affected, some pretty significantly. The impact to the US would be felt much later than for say...Caribbean countries with much smaller GDP.

This is the point where they should have done the same to Nazi Germany They made reporting the National Debt illegal and used every cent to create worthless jobs and build armaments - so they could invade nationtions and steal their wealth. Learn from history

Good. Do it. You paying attention, conservatives?! "There's no such thing as international law! Let's see you enforce it?" Welllllllllllllllll. About. That.

US treasuries were long regarded as one of the safest investments. Unaddressed growing deficits, attacks on press & universities, political polarization/paralysis, and politicizing DOJ & Fed will render us a “shithole” country. How ironic. US is “hottest country” - more like a hot potato!
