I get it, but it is Actually Bad to treat revocation of citizenship as a point of political leverage, even casually.

Trump’s mother was born British. Not American. Which makes him ineligible to be president if you mess with the 14th Amendment. This is a civil war we are in Philip. It just hasn’t metastasized to the guns yet. But those guys in masks taking away my neighbors mean that it will at some point.

He’s always been a 💩level mob boss of a mom and pop family crime business. Extortion, threats, bribes were his jam and he was never going to level the playing field for the average person. He doesn’t care to uphold the Constitution or the law—we’re in serious trouble

Not overstaying, working on a student visa. (IIUC, overstaying for < 6 months is actually usually not an issue for GC, and 6-24 months requires a petition but is not a dealbreaker either).

(not a lawyer but from discussions that I had about this -) If you lie about it, that's probably very bad. But if it's less than 180 days, and you want to apply for a green card (and then later citizenship), you can file a form (i-601?) and it will be automatically forgiven.

I've always wondered (though it's becoming more obvious) why members of the media seem to dare this administration to become increasingly horrible.

Elon and Trump have figured out that people love their drama. Allows Elon to increase his European sales. Allows Trump to flood the news cycles and distract people away from bills passing etc All of this drama is fake. They both want more and more money they can grab.

We do this a lot where we take the failure to apply some punishment as a mandate to weaken legal protections. See all the complaints when Trump dodges defamation suits. Folks those protections are most important for us… not folks with millions to throw at lawyers.

It shld basically never happen. Even to the worst people, the worst criminals. The only time it shld even be considered is for grave deception in the process of naturalization. It’s a grave undermining of the equality of American citizens.

They can’t help themselves. This is who they are. Once the scorpion is on the frog it is inevitable that it will sting it. The challenge is to make sure they are crossing a river, and sink together when that happens.

Yes. The obligations of citizenship go both ways. If someone breaks the law, you try them and, if guilty, punish them. You do NOT strip them of citizenship, dump them in some other country, and consider yourself rid of them.

This is one of those ethics cases in which the Categorical Imperative butts headlong into both Utilitarianism and Hedonism. We all know it would be wrong, but it would be very beneficial to many people, and it would make so many people feel so good. 🤷

He also never says no to any hypothetical. Literally has never done it. You could ask him "would you consider banning pets?" and he would say "we'll see". And the media surely know this by now so they ask him questions that will create a headline.

No, it’s not indirectly related. The question is reality show performative bullshit. A related question would be “what do you say to American people whom are either going to lose medical coverage or whom are going to experience dramatic cost increases?”

Or “how will disinvesting in renewable energy allow the US to be a leader in renewable energy production? How will it help deal with the rising demand for electricity caused by generative AI? Don’t we run the risk of ceding that industry to other nations with this policy?”

Last time he made off the cuff remarks he took us to war w Iran. #immigrantMusk is truly on borrowed time in the US. And given #musky’s hated of Africa (note USAID gutting) he will not be allowed back in. Wonder if EM will get sent to El Salvador??

Political revocation of citizenship is happening and inevitable. Targeting Musk would serve to escalate this obscenity to courts in a way no other case could. And Musk would respond with an anti-Trump barrage. It won’t happen, because, TACO. But a high-stakesTrump/Musk monkey fight would be good.

Agree, but also - he got to *keep* his citizenship for political reasons, despite him admitting to working illegally on a student visa.

Hey MAGA, when your mom is kicked out of the nursing home because she’s on Medicaid, I will be happy to let her sleep on a couch in my basement. $3k per day. Life ain’t free anymore. Thanks President Trump.

My thoughts exactly. Elon Musk is a horrific human being, but Trump throwing this around is something I see happening with anyone who threatens him in any way. That's scary shit.

This lady is a real douche bag! She is the problem! Hehe " I asked if he would deport him" Like fascism is funny and cute and one big fucking game! Sick bitch!
