Tuberculosis, the deadliest infectious disease on the planet, kills more than 1.25M people a year. New infections are expected to surge by 30% as a result of closing USAID, a memo says. The increase will inevitably lead to cases in the U.S.

The US actually has a few thousand TB cases every year, of which a few hundred die. Thanks to our past investments in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, we don’t suffer as high a TB burden as poorer countries, but it’s never been fully gone here

White American evangelicals , that hand over 15/20 % of their monthly income to mega churches Pastors ( to pay for their personal Jesus Jets & Lamborghinis ) will claim - these are not true believers in Jesus & our $ God …

i'm literally the worlds dumbest doctor 🤦‍♀️ in my defense i think it used to be but the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has been amazingly effective which is incredibly heartening actually

No you’re not. Malaria has killed half the population of the earth that’s ever been born. But it’s a blood parasite. TB can be caught by someone coughing near you. It spreads easier from human to human. And the only reason I know is bc Musk called us the parasite class and I looked it up recently🤷🏼‍♀️

Did you know that having tuberculosis is one of the criteria that can get your green card revoked, or application for one denied? And cases are already up in the US. Get all your vaccines updated! They don't all last forever.

It's FAFO with basic epidemiology. Well, you've done the first part, stand by for the second. & if you didn't follow the news (esp. about Project 2025) because 'politics is boring', this is on you. & if *you* didn't vote, this is on you (& all your neighbours). bsky.app/profile/nige...

'FLU COVID MEASLES (MDR)TB • MAGA voters don't think they're going to be affected, trusting in Trump's magic; • MAGA Republican Representatives think 'their' system' will protect them; & • the MAGA-aligned ultra-rich think their money will 'inoculate' them. All wrong. *MILLIONS* are going to die.

It’s bad enough that 1.25 million people die annually of a disease that has been curable for decades because we choose to live in a world where that happens. It’s absolutely disgraceful that our government has decided that wasn’t enough preventable death. It’s time to #EndTB, not help it persist!

Trump’s decision to shut down USAID is a death sentence – literally. 😡 1.25M die from TB every year, and now infections will surge by 30%?! This isn’t just cruel – it’s criminal negligence. EXPOSE the truth – FOLLOW ME! 🔥💀🚨

20 year old DOGE bros with zero empathy decided people should die because they are a waste of money. May every one of these people personally experience the hell they just assigned to others without a second thought.

The despicable and irrational actions by our unqualified, "look at the high profile seat I just bought" donors who are clueless and making these decisions in this administration are DEFINITELY going to eventually kill Americans. Plain and simple. So predictable it is sickening.

The outbreak in Kansas is very concerning, but to be clear, it is very much not the largest outbreak in US history. There have been two larger outbreaks in recent years, and before we were recording these things it was killing a LOT of people.

1. The kansas health department says it IS the biggest in history. 2. It's still ongoing. I dunno why you have a need to minimize the most deadly disease in the world spreading in multiple states in the US.

We need to be shouting much more about how cutting millions of people off of treatment will invariably lead to drug resistant strains of diseases emerging and coming back to haunt us in unimaginable ways.🚨🚨🚨

When you cut this many people off from HIV treatment, drug resistance will develop and a formerly manageable pandemic will erupt once again.

"Bernie Sanders takes leadership of the anti-Trump resistance." Large crowds alone will not overthrow Trump. The Resistance needs Sen. Sanders to strategize, marshall assets, and build strength in numbers, including military leaders who oppose this authoritarian regime. www.europesays.com/1900996/

An example of people with expertise in one area, lacking expertise in another...Musk and Trump may be high-level decision-makers, but painfully lack basic public health knowledge...likely thinking that individual meds like antivirals and antibiotics can replace population level vaccination

So if WHO and European countries spend money to keep dangerous diseases at bay that also benefits US, then we can send inflated invoices to Trump/US to cover for the costs?

They will only start to care—if at all—when many cases of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis appear in the US. Consistent, uninterrupted treatment is essential, but that requires systems matched by good policy.

I hope they enjoy ruling over the ashes bc “survival of the fittest” gets slammed by diseases too. Have fun running a fiefdom of 0, Peter Thiel

How else are they going to make affordable televisions? Get rid of the parent, indoctrinate the child at a young age and have them make electronic and dig in the mines for 50 cents an hour. That is aluminum foil hat talk but fact is stranger than fiction as of late.
