i do not "organize my files", i do not "put things in separate folders", i PUT EVERYTHING IN DOWNLOADS! and if i can't find it, i LOST IT!

....it was so embarrassing absolutely refusing to organize anything for years, then gradually but all at once realizing how much easier organization makes life. 30 mins of organization can save HOURS of time.

dont forget nicknaming important random files as whatever the fuck because who cares about reusing files and finding old projects

folders look yucky and gross i dont like the color meanwhile the download button is an awesome symbol and everything i like goes there anyway soo yep. organizing is pretty much useless......download tab for life

my D:\ drive was organised back when i didn’t prioritise organisation so me trying to navigate through it causes me to feel mental pain every time i try and i want to just slam my face into the keyboard

yeah same i feel the downloaded movies and tv shows on my computer are the most organised ones sorted by live action, animated, what season

I’m trying my best with my external due to graduation internship n all. A supervisor got a good chuckle out of me clicking like 7 nested folders to show a picture, but completely understood it

I'd rather waste some days organizing stuff rather than losing again something as important of that video of a guy with no nose saying "BIG. MEATY. CLA-" and then going "WLAWLAWLAAAAALWALWLALAAAAA" in a YTP fashion

windows search is extremely unoptimized. there are tools (such as Everything by voidtools) which speeds this up to *real-time search results as you type*. Or if you're looking to clean out some space on your drive but don't know where to find those unwanted large files, windirstat is the tool.

Seconding Everything because it's insanely embarassing that a third party tool is 20 times better at indexing the disk and providing realtime results, as well as recommending WizTree over WinDirStat because it goes straight to the partition and skips the windows middleman making it 20x faster

either one of three places: Home, Downloads, or Desktop. wherever it goes depends on what the application last used, because some apps dont know how to handle a non-Windows fs and defaults to Home. but some correctly figure it out and it leads to files being in either folder and i just Deal With It.

I used to be really bad about this but now I'm way better. My stuff is still kinda disorganized but it's like miles better than what I used to be doing

Does "sort by date" count as organization ? Somewhat related : I don't usually delete anything from my downloads. Some times, I'll just scroll through my downloads and recall memories of what I was doing at the time.

Oh sigh! Y’all are making my day: here I thought I was the only one who’s filing system consists of “global search” for … hmm. What did I call that again? Well, I know it contained this word, or that….😜

I have done this. And every single time I change computers, anything I managed to save gets corrupted. Life was simpler with manila folders.

yeah it’s either downloads or if i’m feeling spicy, desktop. makes it much easier to just get up and move tho! literally just copy downloads folder, and i’ve got like 99% of my computer out of that drive
