Are you happy now, Guardian dian newspaper??? You were part of this. You reported with racist overtones. You didn’t protect him, you targeted him along with the right wing press. My subscription is over. You weren’t the worst, but you should have done better.

Is Sodha going to explain to us on Bluesky why it was necessary for this guy's story to be headline news again and again, day after day, taking priority over racist mobs in Thetford and climate change news in British media

Both The Guardian and the Telegraph have disproportionally targeted this man. Way betond any relevance to the real world Never had any relationship either Telegraph but the Guardian, after many many years, is dead to me now.

I lost my beautiful son to suicide, it has destroyed me and the rest of the family. I have read and enjoyed the Guardian since I was 16, I’m 64 now. I’m so disappointed in your journalism for your part in this, I thought you had more scruples.

You were just as much a part of this gleeful pile-on. Give yourself a good pat on the back - you've as much a hand in this death as the rest of the rat bag press that you pretend to be better than.

Absolutely ashamed and embarrassed that I subscribe to this newspaper a situation that will be ending as soon as possible. The final straw I cannot turn a blind eye to your contribution to this.

Well done Guardian and the rest of the media. More blood on your hands. He faced more criticism from you than Farage did over the same period. One of them wants to run the country, but you went after the minority guy who pretty much no-one had heard of. Rag as bad as the Mail.

The Guardian is trying to play innocent. The list of avoidable deaths caused or instigated or indirectly caused by the string pullers in the media is long. They have as much blood on their hands as anyone.

Well done on boosting this boring workplace story with endless articles and a fucking podcast because it's popular with racists! Now there's a dead father of two 👏

The Guardian helped create the extraordinary extreme pressure that this poor fella had to experience. It was cruel and performative and they pressed down on his neck with their collective journalistic kneecaps - even when it was obvious he couldn’t breathe.

Care about real equality? Don't blame the Guardian. It acted on the tragic Jason Arday's confessed "mistakes" to uphold diversity. Journalists like me and those on the paper fulfil a duty to seek a fair world for all. Cambridge University's diligence failure betrayed Arday and everyone affected.

Quality above quantity says UK public interest and funding warrant media scrutiny on equitable access to a leading university's professorships for the under-represented, such as women, alongside the working class and ethnic minorities, including black people.

the press needs to be regulated. Not only is the british press cruel and obssesive they’re also making all of us dumber by how shit they are at their jobs - Guardian very much included. I honestly can’t stand them

All of you criticizing the media are no different to the media that defends people like Trump and Farage. Why are you so fearful of a truth which has been researched, verified then revealed. If there’s responsibility for this deeply sad story it belongs to those who knowingly created the situation.

May The Guardian put the same rigour into investigating / reporting Donald Trump’s exaggerations and outright fabrications re: his academic, business, financial and TV personality career “achievements”🤞

Guardian should have know better but they have been going downhill for a few years now. Do you think the public will forget what the press have done to a vulnerable person - the answer is NO! Try and spend your time on priority areas in future rather than increasing anti press sentiment May he RIP.

Hi. Did the worthless middle class Guardian editors get tired of hounding trans children to death and decide to kill a black man for daring to be black in academia? Did you enjoy the company of your globally-hated TERF friends so much you decided to start promoting the work of male nazis as well?

And the so called journalists will smile at a job well done, congratulate each other over fine reporting, then move on to their next victim without a jot of empathy. Each one should hang their head in shame.

Incredibly sad. The Guardian was one of the newspapers contributing to the pile-on/demonization/hysteria. So god knows what the usual suspects (Mail, Telegraph etc) had to say about him. I’m so glad I didn’t read any of that.

Channel 4 News had an “exclusive” on his appointment this very night. You’re right - it wasn’t just the usual suspects contributing to this callous pile-on

As Jolyon Maugham from the Good Law Project has just said, “What was the public interest in the continued hounding of Dr Arday after he had resigned?” There was no public interest.

775...Will The Guardian be spending as much time and effort exposing the ombudsinjustice at Ombudsman Services at the time of CEO The Rev Lewis Shand and it's subsequent cover-up by the political and media establishment? And if not then why not?

It did. What started as a spat between academics, one of whom had a grievance as he’d been sacked was blown up by the media. The same media that doesn’t give a fraction of the scrutiny to the likes of Farage who lie daily. Whose lies have affected most people’s lives. That poor man, hounded to death

All media including the Guardian should be ashamed of the hounding of Arday. Every article I read in the Guardian was acompianied by a portrait image of Arday. Never any portraits of the imbeciles at Cambridge or the culprit who provoked the controversy over plagiarism. Just another bait to click.

This is what happens when a bullying, out of control & frankly racist press & media blow a story up out of all proportion & make life Hell for the person being targeted. Yes, it was a newsworthy story but the way it was presented & then over promoted was, again, a disgrace.

This man has been killed by the media and Cambridge University. The editors and journalists at The Guardian have blood on their hands, and should be held accountable and resign. The same goes for the leadership at Cambridge.

Same, and I didn't read any of the articles because it didn't seem like an important story, yet it was at the top of their news feed every day. The sheer amount of stories from the guardian alone made me feel really uncomfortable

A more accurate headline: Jason Arday found dead after being relentlessly hounded by the media, very much including The Guardian, day after day, long after the original story had been covered ad nauseam. And if anything you're worse than the others because of your sickening hypocrisy.

Shame on The Guardian. This went way beyond scrutiny and genuine public interest. It was an obsession which led to a horribly predictable outcome.

A huge majority of the public could not give a shit about this story. Yet every single press outlet made it the most important event that’s ever happened. Ooh somebody lied to be a professor at Cambridge Uni - so fucking what!? MSM are scumbags. And pricks.

Tragedies are so at least for one person. BUT, it doesn't mean the reasons are to be found in others. The Guardian played its part in insisting on the same. However, this is on the guy who embellished his own CV and wasn't ready to face the consequences once people found out.
