Out of curiosity, what coordinates would that be at?

This had me burst out crying. The amazing beauty on such a horrible day for millions. How we can take this wondrous planet and its people for granted is simply staggering. To be a speck on a floating rock and still want to destroy and murder and amass greedily, it's insane.

I remember a fox or discovery doc that my dad used to play back on vhs about sprites in the early 90s. Back then little to nothing was known about them & they were still at the myth stage. Now we know them to be real, I find the fact that they were categorised along with UFOs and Aliens rather cool.

Also quite a rare type of sprite, That's a Giant Jet! Easily4-5x height of the cloud. Truly amazing phenomena!

Incredible shot of one too. my FIL was given a tape to look over and it was these sprites and cones. Would have loved to seen them in this image quality back in the 90s. I wish he could have see them like this. Not fuzzy VHS.

More specifically, this is a Gigantic Jet - also a type oft TLE, but different to Red Sprites.

I’ve been keeping my eye out for distant thunderstorms accompanied by clear local skies so I can go sprite hunting. Hoping to catch my first.

They’re huge electrical discharges occurring way above storm clouds, kind of like gigantic lightning bolts reaching into space.

It's low enough that it has to readjust its orbit every now and then or else the drag will cause it to fall and crash into the planet.
