Spent today in the ER for possible heart attack. I’m ok. But it was scary. Called emergency line with doc, I woke up in a puddle of sweat and was chilling and hot flashing every 30 minutes but had no fever and had chest tightness. Nurse said call 911 NOW. Hate my first thought was about ambulance $

Omg this is terrifying! I am glad you weren’t having a heart attack however i am sad that you were that poorly that this whole thing was necessary. Hopefully you will be in the mend soon. *hugs*

I’ve never felt this intensely bad outside of kidney stones. The good news is that outside of unaffiliated security guard my local hospital (which I was born in!) treated me VERY well. Kaiser wanted me to go to one 14 miles away like, bitch is it an emergency or not? Ambulance would take me local

Yeah the security was ridiculous! Please, when you feel up to it, register a complaint with the hospital patient advocate. They need to update their rules for the security team. Maybe not hosp staff but must have a contract. this is liability for the hosp. They’ll care if their money is threatened.

Oh no! I’m glad your ok that’s scary, sucks we live in a country that the first thing we think of is the bill for an ambulance ride rather than our health 😅. I hope you feel better and don’t have another scare 💕

Read the whole thread; that's terrifying AND infuriating! I'm furious on your behalf especially about being /stopped while going to the fucking ER/. I'm glad you're ok. This is NOT something you needed. :(

The first thing that went through my mind when I woke up from my colonoscopy and they told me I needed surgery to remove a tumor wasn't "omg am I going to die?", no, it was "how the fuck am I going to pay for this?" The US is so backwards with healthcare it's stupid. Profits > people

Oh my god what a nightmare, but I'm glad it wasn't a heart attack! Still awful to feel that terrible if it's pneumonia doing all that to you. Chest tightness is nothing to take lightly :( F that security guard wtf. Hoping you get a break soon and start feeling back to normal again 🫂

Yeah severe dehydration can cause tachycardia but the rapid sweat/chill cycle plus rapid heartbeat plus chest tightness is a “maybe heart attack?” so I’m glad it was the least scary option but literally when the nurse told me to call 911 I burst out crying. It was terrifying

Ohh yeah dehydration can be brutal all on its own. We once thought my husband was having a stroke (confused, dizzy, slurred speech) but it was actually bad dehydration. Ugh yes hearing that would be terrifying, I don't blame you one bit! 🫂

I'm so sorry, this is horrifying, the fact you have to consider not taking the ambulance or going to the hospital due to being saddled with financially devastating debt should be criminal. I hope you recover from this. <3

My mom had pneumonia about 20 years ago, same symptoms as you but still refused to go to a doctor. She eventually collapsed at her job right by the entrance so other people called the ambulance. It took a whole month of staying in bed for her to be cleared. Hope you’ll be okay 🫂

That’s so scary! I’ve had pneumonia before bc I have allergy-induced asthma seasonally and often slip into the pneumonia zone but this is the worst I’ve ever felt and strange bc I didn’t have any typical symptoms of it, just the chills/flashing with no fever. It’s totally random they caught it

Seriously the pneumonia on top of the perimenopause came out of left field. I seriously thought my BC was giving me a heart attack or blood clot (entirely possible). So glad it’s this and manageable but wow, didn’t see that coming.

My heart was beating fast, I was severely dehydrated (likely due to sweats), gave IV, chest Xray, CT scan, blood work. Blood triggered possible alarm of blood clot, great! Got ultrasound on my legs. All clear but guess what, I have pneumonia! But also the hormonal issues. It all made it worse.

Bonus, this happened when I arrived to the ER. I’m not normally one to knock a guy for working but consider the venue, this isn’t a Ticketmaster event, this is where people are having emergencies. Anyway, I’m tired, everything keeps happening. Pneumonia possibly what J had last week, maybe caught it

WTF is this security theater ass-clown world we live in.... I'm glad it wasn't worse but Pneumonia isn't a day in the park. Sending good vibes your way. Feel better soon!!

I'm so sorry things are seeming to line up against you; I hope you can get what you need and have some time to recuperate. I'm so freaking sorry, and I'm glad you're alright considering.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that you had to spend the day at the ER, I know first hand how much it can suck to have to deal with 'administration' when you are having a serious health issue. Hoping you feel better quickly, though. I'm relieved to hear it wasn't a heart attack, at least.
