SCOOP: A young man with no government experience who hasn’t even finished his undergrad degree is working for Elon Musk’s DOGE at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and has been tasked with using AI to rewrite the agency’s rules and regulations.

This reminds me of when Bush sent a bunch of College Republican types over to Iraq in senior positions to rebuild the Iraqi Gov't using often untested ideological Republican theories. As you might guess, it was super-successful.

A more serious question will Russia or China make a first nuclear attack On the United States while Trump’s most incompetent administration appointments at the head of the FBI, Secretary of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, are in disarray and vulnerable?

Call your Rep. and Senators every day. Capitol switchboard (202) 224-3121. Email them through their websites. Tell them this: 1. Call for impeachment. Loudly. Daily. 2. Go see your constituents in the concentration camps in El Salvador. Or don’t ask for money… (Please repost)

Inefficient and wasteful. Are they frauds too? I'm guessing the AI will find wrong stuff that reviewers can catch, but what about the stuff it misses? An uneducated computer hack with no government experience has no idea what to search for.

AI...those videos we watch that have those horrible AI narrators that botches names and words and the awkward sounding porn ads we don't ask for, those pics where people have six fingers and 15 toes and those loving chatbots we all argue with. Nope...pass.

🧵 Allow me to tell you why HUD rules & regs are written the way they are. Let’s go back to Manhattan in late 2001, early 2002. The ConEd & Verizon facilities in lower Manhattan were destroyed in the September 11 attacks. If the City was to come back, they needed to not just be rebuilt…1/6

…they needed to be upgraded to state of the art facilities in order to keep up with emerging technologies and demand. That was the way to ensure the area would return to being the nerve center of financial activity of the country, & some would say, the world. 2/6

The problem was The Stafford Act limits FEMA’s assistance to individuals and families, state and local governments, and non-profit organizations that provide essential services, but does include not utilities. Also, FEMA restores to pre-disaster conditions, but doesn’t pay for upgrades. 3/6

Enter HUD, the $750 million appropriation was processed as a Community Block Development Grant (CDBG) to the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) earmarked for ConEd & Verizon. Why? The deliberate flexibility of the program. The rest as they say, is history. 4/6

On the plus side its gonna make for a GREAT tv series. Law & Order: We Now Need To Set a Bunch Of New Precidents Because Some Dipshits Wanted To Steal A Bunch Of Taxes And The President Just Fucking Let Them. I think there's probably a way to shorten the title, but let's let accuracy win.

Chris Sweet—who two sources have been told is the lead on the AI deregulation project for the entire administration—has produced a spreadsheet with ~1000 rows of policy areas where the AI flagged that HUD may have “overreached” and suggesting replacement language. www.wired.com/story/doge-c...

His title is “special assistant,” although an email written by a DOGE staffer and widely shared within HUD states that “a better title might be ‘Al computer programming quant analyst.’” The title shared in that email made little sense to at least one HUD staffer. www.wired.com/story/doge-c...

One HUD source said Sweet’s effort was redundant because the agency was already “put through a multi-year multi-stakeholder meatgrinder before any rule was ever created” because of the Administrative Procedure Act. Read the full story here: www.wired.com/story/doge-c...

Our govt is completely out of the control of elected officials. There is NO way this should be happening. But, here we are. Thanks to a convicted felon & sexual assaulter incompetent who likely has no idea what’s being done & wouldn’t care anyway. We are lost.

I'd argue "young man" is not infantilizing him and is a crucial framing because it really drives home they're we're letting utterly utterly UTTERLY unqualified people rewrite crucial parts of our government. Interns getting to decide who lives and who dies.

Agree with you that they are letting unqualified people destroy our government, but “young man,” or worse, “kid,” which has also been bandied about in reference to these people, both provide a ready-made excuse for their crimes and a sympathetic characterization.

I hope everyone who opposes Trump is appreciative of the absolutely stellar job that the reporters at Wired magazine are doing covering DOGE. The mainstream general press is ill-equipped to cover many of these stories.

What if we task that AI with identifying how many laws the Trump admin has broken? (you know, like tasking someone from an unofficial organization with rewriting government regulations)

So someone who's brain isn't fully developed, is using AI that is far from being a proven technology to replace actual deliberative thought (and never will be in our lifetime, imho) to write government regulations on the orders of a billionaire nepo baby, narcissist? What couldN'T go wrong?

These are not serious people. This is a bunch of lying clowns in a clown car. We could’ve had KH, & this country would’ve been amazing & the economy would’ve gone through the roof & we’d be respected on the world stage. But folks said no, let’s go w/Orange Cheeto & the Suck Up Cult Administration.

It’s Thursday & Trump & his phone line don’t work much. But you can leave a message Tues-Thurs 11-3. 202.456.1111 No peace…everyday call your reps 202-224-3121 and Mike Johnson John Thune Chuck Schumer Hakeem Jefferies Call for impeachment/treason charges Need help use 5calls.org
