A part of this not mentioned is that Texas used to let kids transition. I volunteered at a camp for trans kids in Houston when I was in college (pre transition I know I know how did I not know I was trans). Guess where part of that camp was? Texas Children’s. That’s how much we lost

its insane how not many people are talking about how republicans with the help of several moderate democrats are building out the largest abusive medical conversion therapy operation in modern american history

This horror is less than a mile from where I grew up. Don’t let this happen to your community.

My god. A Virginia data center ran backup diesel generators full blast for 24 hours, creating a giant cloud of toxic smoke that choked its human neighbors. The government claimed there was nothing they could do.

Like Princess Mononoke but instead of a historically progressive woman who propels the Zeitgeist forward for liberation from patriarchy, feudalism and the shackles of nature, it’s for pretend girlfriends and boomer slop memes

Google’s data center brings wolves. “We had wolves coming into the village because all the wild animals moved out of the forest,” 53-year-old Otanmäki resident Anni Ranta told the Guardian. “They fled.”

A serial rapist was elected twice as President, a fact we don't reckon with nearly enough. Now one of two major political parties has been molded in his image, run for and by violent sexual abusers who hate women.

Flávio Bolsonaro has been banned from leaving Brazil and ordered to surrender his passports following his presidential election defeat, amid investigations into suspected influence-peddling, money laundering and other alleged financial irregularities.

Don’t see much about ICE and the abuse of immigrants these days. ICE is still dumping human beings in random countries btw. We, in general, have the attention span of gnats.

Three detainees have died at ICE’s Camp East Montana, one in a death ruled a homicide. Federal auditors found evidence missing or destroyed, and inspectors documented 52 violations. ICE is now pursuing a $2.8 billion no-bid contract through 2028.

Rule of thumb is that if somebody hates one minority group, they likely hate the others as well. Frequently, transphobes are also homophobic, racist, xenophobic, and sexist. Any political group pushing transphobia should be seen as suspicious

If dems cant stand for one Marginalized group to fight fascism then they arent gonna syand for the others either

If Iread one more cis white dude tsk-tsking about just putting aside human rights to elect a shitty Democrat over a shittier Republican I'm going to fucking scream. The Republican party is at historic levels of unpopularity. If we don't smother this bigotry now, THEN FUCKING WHEN DUDE

Rusty Antel@rustyantel.bsky.social

Turek is running for Senate in Iowa, a conservative leaning Republican state. And it is a very close race. You have every right to criticize his position on this issue and in a perfect world I’d join you. But let’s put that aside and help him win this race. Turek is still better than his opponent

this is a perfectly reasonable list, imo these four are all monumentally awful on trans issues and this is a more than fair place to draw the line, especially given how the elections currently look - three of them are in the house, where dems will romp regardless, and iowa can do better than turek

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

Most of the folks you know that are responsible for those games have either left the industry, work somewhere else, or did a failed kickstarter. It's more helpful to follow people and not studios or ip.

Does it need to be said that Mass Effect shouldn’t exist without the developers and team that was working on this game? Either they come back and make the game they were, or Mass Effect dies. kotaku.com/mass-effect-...

What's striking to me are the rules of engagement and the methodology of action here, which more or less is predicated on burying liberal delusions about "debate" or the "marketplace of ideas". The rules were ultimately very simple: amplify your own message and suppress your opponent's.

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

What is true is that this was a conflict—and make no mistake, this was a conflict; this was a protracted battle in a hybrid war, more than anything—that was largely fought by large numbers of people laboriously working to unfuck the nation's informational environment.

Genuinely I don't know that it comes across to people who haven't been here to watch how almost unbelievable this was, just people taking something that looked impossible and dragging it kicking and screaming all the way to inevitability.
