Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 and replaced it with a restored stream, 1000 acre park and improved public transit, not only did it TRANSFORM the city’s public life and economic success, but the car traffic got better. The car traffic got BETTER.

This guy was caught on video committing one of the worst road rage incidents I've ever seen, plowing into a group of riders—and then he left the scene. Seriously, fuck the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for framing him as some sort of a victim. You are complicit assholes. www.ajc.com/news/2026/10...

I am begging the "eBikes are causing injuries" crowd to give even half as much concern for the constant injury and death caused by cars.

since California ballots are now out: prop 40 is the billionaire tax, and you should vote yes to stick it to them but both props 41 and 42 are designed to retroactively cancel the billionaire tax because they’re afraid they can’t beat it at the ballot box yes on 40, no on 41 and 42

Chuck Schumer — one of the most powerful Democrats in the country — has not issued statements to the press or through his social media channels about the administration’s attack on Ilhan Omar, which critics have described as a five alarm fire for the state of democracy in the U.S.

Forgiving infrastructure assumes people make mistakes. A person on a bike who loses their balance and falls shouldn't pay for it with their life just because there was no buffer between them and a vehicle 100 times their weight.

Fuck...and I REALLY mean this...Doug Ford. What a disgrace. Protected bike lanes save lives, give a boost to local businesses, and allow children to get to school on their own. There is nothing fiscally conservative about this move. It's expensive populist nonsense intended to divide us.

In the end, the lanes come out.

There's been a few new bike lanes coming in recently, and the one on Bryn Mawr, just West of Kedzie, looks almost finished! This stretch goes along lots of amazing restaurants, a university, and is right by a local high school - providing tons of access and amenities.

Dutch cycling infrastructure during the school run, showing why safe infrastructure is vital if we want children to cycle to school. From a fietsstraat, where bikes have priority, to protected cycle tracks where cars must give way to bikes at every junction. Safe, convenient cycling for everyone.

Zelensky accused Trump of reaching agreements with Putin “behind Ukraine’s back” while Kyiv’s delegation is in Florida. He said the US is giving Russia “additional money to wage war” and called Ukraine’s team a “smokescreen” for a decision that is “unfair” and “not partner-like.” #Ukraine

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

The gauntlet is down. Clock is ticking for vids showing five bags of cement, a ladder, and a cement mixer being hauled around on/by cargo bike.

Brandon - "Fietser"@americanfietser.bsky.social

I’ve hauled a ladder on my own cargo bike, and contractors in the Netherlands do it every single day. The limits of what's possible aren't dictated by the physical capability of the bike, they're dictated entirely by the quality of your infrastructure.

Sidewalks that dump pedestrians into the street for the benefit of turning cars is hostile design. It shouldn't be allowed design in any proper city. 90° corners direct behavior and force motorists to slow their speed and pay attention. This is how you create safe streets.

If we would mandate that the "oversized" parking spots be farther from the store/venue, that might be enough of a disincentive. Many oversized drivers hate walking from the back of the parking lot.

Everywhere you look there's public concern and even outrage over ebikes, largely brought on by emotos, but that's not what bothers me. What bothers me is the blind eye to Suburbans, Tahoes, Wagoneers, and lifted commuter pickup trucks making our streets truly deadly and no one even takes notice.

All painted bike lanes are car infrastructure. The engineers have checked a box, while still allowing at-will, unimpeded movement by motorists in the heart of a major city. This design only serves those who are comfortable being uncomfortable.

I don’t think everyone realizes how bad things are for US science: For the fiscal year that just ended, the Trump regime withheld $1.4 billion from the National Science Foundation’s research budget, which is about 1/5 of its primary research budget.
