“prediction market”

Kate Starbird@katestarbird.bsky.social

The Brazil election story today is already wild. Alleged efforts by some local mayors to stymie public transportation to suppress votes. Extended voting hours. Now vote is coming in, Bolsonaro with a slim lead, and yet the Polymarket has totally flipped in the last few hours towards Lula:

This is the guy who chickened out of fighting Mark Zuckerberg who had to build an entire digital social media platform to talk to girls.

Shawn Tiemann@shawnt.bsky.social

It’s a legitimate threat from the richest man in the world but he’s also sooooo fucking lame. Who talks like this lmao

I wasn't a huge Coach fan when it aired. But.....I love Ty Burrell. I'll watch him in anything. So let's go!

I'm an actual gay man, and somehow Donald Trump spends more time studying men's asses, thighs, and bodies than I do.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

Hearing from my sources that this "over the top" tweet from Jan Crawford is being discussed internally at CBS. At the same time, as those same sources noted, "Jan is protected by Bari" and has been a very vocal acolyte of Weiss. "She just can't help herself," one network insider said.

I don't know how CBS News can claim it's a nonpartisan news outlet when a prominent CBS correspondent like Jan Crawford goes after Abdul El-Sayed in such a ridiculous manner. Of course, Crawford attended the CBS owners' dinner in honor of Trump, so her MAGA leanings were already well established.

Hell yeah, Bill. We need Zuckerberg, Musk, and Bezos up there in front of Congress.

Bill Kristol@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social

The first subpoena from the new Democratic Congress should be to Mark Zuckerberg, for taking down the No Kings Instagram account in the middle of one of the largest days of civic activism in American history. No Kings. No Courtiers.

Relatedly: in retrospect one of the dumber bits of political ZIRP that shows how unserious all the discourse was during Obama and Trump 1 was people sneering at the army, cops, CIA, etc making generic “love is love, diversity is good” type statements because they were ‘inauthentic’ or some shit.

Corporations publicly celebrating LGBT+ equality is a good thing and I am glad to see it coming back.

Lmao. Jake Paul is living proof that Vine knew its audience. Six seconds of content for a man with six seconds of cognitive processing power.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Jake Paul: "I get confused by the left, the protesters. Do they not have jobs? That's all they do is carry signs around while we're doing the work." (Note the lack of crowd response to this.)

So, today alone: 12 killed and more than 300 wounded by the Houthis; Iran warned ships away from the UAE; a ship was hit by a projectile off the UAE coast; and multiple drones and missiles targeted airports in Saudi Arabia. Sure we will get a Truth Social later about how they are dying to negotiate.

Respectfully disagree. I was worried about this remake. But it sucked me in. Yes, Flanagan has a different approach to the source material but the themes are all still there. I got a chuckle from some of the posts. Posters, not the OP, claiming they've watched it.

Why stop there? Maybe Margaret White is just a great, concerned mom. Maybe Carrie learns how to use her powers for good. Maybe the prom goes great. Maybe this is all about empowerment and agency. Maybe we call it Bewitched.

But then complain that "X" is missing in this adaptation. But it's clearly in this version. This is media, nothing has to be your cup of tea. I just find the social media response to Carrie fascinating.

We have a long way to go in Utah but this warms my heart.

The Upshot@upshot.nytimes.com

Which state is the youngest in the nation? (It's Utah) And young voters have swung leftward since 2024. Put it together, and @jakerugh.bsky.social has been documenting a big change in voter registration patterns in conservative Utah.

I've thought this. When my doggies snuggle right up next to me, I always feel like I sleep better.

NBC News@nbcnews.com

A surprising new study finds that people who sleep near their dogs don’t experience disrupted sleep. If anything, the University of Toronto researchers discovered, we humans are the ones disturbing our dogs’ sleep.

It's honestly baffling because so much of the discourse about HEATED RIVALRY *at the time* was about how it appealed to a supposedly untapped market of women viewers who want to see gay romance/erotica. Did executives just miss all of that?

Harry loves his "soaring eagle" takes.

G Elliott Morris@gelliottmorris.com

Starting to think it’s part of CNN’s social media strategy to keep doing this extraordinarily dumb take (“90% of people who tell us they like to eat apples also enjoy apple cider”) as a way to get the president’s attention and thus more clicks. Harry knows better

Mike Lee is always there to make sure Dear Leader gets what he wants. What a sniveling toad. The sad thing......Utahns will keep sending this embarrassment back to Washington.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

A bipartisan effort to ban the demolition of presidential memorials — including the Kennedy Center — was blocked Monday night in the Senate by an objection from Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah).
