"Let men become the servile pawns of their masters in the factories of the land and there will be destroyed the bone and sinew of resistance to political dictatorship. The seeds of communism are sown in industry, not in government."

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who spared a thought for my country today, who amplified information about the coup d’état attempt, and worried about Brazil’s democratic future—the world’s democratic future. We won! Women won! The Amazon won! Young people won! Democracy won! Hope won!

as a trade unionist and jewish activist who stayed in jewish spaces, spoke the word genocide and fought for change without ceding jewishness, this is just a weird take. I don't give a shit why or how long it takes: I'you dont turn away anyone who joins. who believes they have too many allies?

Nina Lakhani@ninalakhani.bsky.social

For 3 years we've watched Israel commit genocide in Gaza...for those who are finally outraged after watching Naza, we see you and we remember your complicity Free Palestine 🇵🇸

"we will send you to endless war, keep you on a deteriorating ship for 11 months, and deport your father" is the kind of thing you read about emperors doing moments before the fleet mutinies bsky.app/profile/cjci...

This, more than anything else, is what Woke 1 was: Right-wing chuds claiming victimhood when their employers launch investigations, then being quietly cleared without major censure a few months later.

There are going to be Democrats who say we shouldn’t rip it all out — it’s already built, we have other priorities — but removing the visible signs of Trumpism is absolutely necessary.

Andy Craig@andycraig.bsky.social

The vandalism and desecration of the White House isn't just vanity and it's not trivial. It's caesarism, as in literally what Julius Caesar did to the symbolic architecture of civic republicanism. Our national iconography matters and allowing the disfiguring of it to persist is a substantive harm.

All of these Natalie Harp stories are leaking for one reason: Someone in the West Wing is sick of Harp’s shit. Probably just a coincidence that it’s all happening as Leavitt is leaving.

"hmm maybe this whole Arday affair shows that we need to have a Serious Conversation about whether Woke 1.0 overreached in manner X, Y, of Z" motherfucker you are generally in Fascism 487.0, as is this particular affair you're talking about. worry about *that*. /Final

All I would add is what I’ve learned working in labor unions. It was a choice to let organized labor get suffocated by regulation, laws and court decisions. The Democrats chose SV over labor. And they have been killed for it. Their elite doesn’t come from locals anymore, it comes from college dems.

Tressie McMillan Cottom@tressiemcphd.bsky.social

Correct. (Word counts etc.) It is also hard to overstate how much the establishment democrats and leadership were and are aligned with technology. The SV culture, the money, and the theory of mind — they are enamored with it.

And college dems have no expertise in the very hard work of organizing. They get elected in bureaucratic systems, excel in getting elite positions at elite organizations. They do not and cannot understand what it is to run and organize campaigns- worker, tenant, antipoverty, internal, external

Obama bailed out banks, corporations and SV & let labor die and he did it because look who he surrounded himself with. here is a fact: the only way white working class people learn about the power of left policies is through a union. Period. We do the hard hard work and they let us starve.

Really? Because I keep seeing them in charge of everything from car dealerships to the White House, and they seem to doing just fine despite their obvious handicaps.

its always been best to understand the trans panic as fear and hatred of all female bodies. it was always about making all women disappear. the scientific proof that trans women ARE women is that all trans panic resolves into misogyny.

Nick Pettigrew@nick-pettigrew.bsky.social

When trans people told you what the likes of Stock were doing wouldn't just stop at them, this is what they meant.

If I can, let me explain today's Times story. This is less to do with renewables and much more to do with where generation is located and how it shows up at a system level. /1

I've further become convinced that all the great *popular* revolutionary movements in history, even the ones remembered as furthest left, had a conservative component in this sense. They were struggles to be able to take decency, respect, and law for granted, again or for the first time.

Robin Wilde@robinwilde.me

We're in a weird time where to be progressive also means being small-c conservative, in that it requires us to encourage people to play their part as citizens and uphold the basic rules of society.

The post-tea party leftist experience in America is watching the right slowly recognize a problem we’ve been talking about for decades, reason their way to a policy solution whose logic and outlines we’ve also been talking about for decades and then fuck up all the specifics. Over and over and over

Since all the African teams went out I’ve been caring less and less about the World Cup. Then I remembered how much love I have for Reece james and now I care again. A lot. This game does stupid things to me.

I saw platner speak once, before the latest revelations came out. I said to the folks around me: love his message. Love his voice. He’s really good on a podium and did the basics really well. Also: I believe every accuser and the ones to come. It was so obvious.
