Time to start basing! Glued down some sand, rocks, and a twig I found during a walk as a log. Painted everything a dark brown. It’s still wet hence the glossiness. Once it’s dry I can do some dry brushing.

NGL, very tired of the people who are like “AI is fine for everything but my area of expertise”: just saw a r/typography promoting their fonts with AI images. Like man, just grab a free photo off Unsplash and credit the photographer in the corner. Like, how hard is that?

Two things that I think people may not be aware of: 1. Deadlock is technically still an early access invite-only game. 2. If you let a community run with the fun things they want to do, amazing things can happen.

This owl was getting banded and tagged by the Rocky Point Bird Observatory. For the owl’s safety, he/she was wrapped up. These photos…🤣🦉. So cute.

You can now place preorders for my deeply spiritual photo essay, “Squish: The Art of Being Comfortable in Ill-Fitting Boxes”

Gosh, this really is a rabbit hole. I’ve been using my standard acrylic paints for this: which mostly works, except the yellow has poor coverage. So I buy yellow for painting miniatures, and so I’m like, let’s also get gold, steel, and matte varnish, and a terrain basing kit, and a painting holder

A new documentary on the archaeology of Great Zimbabwe airs tonight on PBS. I interviewed the lead archaeologist, Shadreck Chirikure, and if you click through, you can watch an exclusive clip showing the team's discovery of Longquan celadon from eastern China. 🧪🏺

This continues to be a problem about any sort of AI coding. Any project that relies too much on AI eventually becomes impossible to maintain.

This post is unavailable.

Any project of with significant AI contribution will run into the issue that no one understands what’s going on with the code. And if it’s not a paid project, AI contributions will generally be from people who don’t care about the project or potentially even know enough to continue to maintain it.

NGL, what I’m getting from this is “Dinner” is cognate with the Spanish for breakfast, “Desayunar”. You can also similarly break it down into Des + Ayunar: Break + Fast. Which means Dinner is Breakfast. Amusingly apparently the original Latin “disiūnāre” meant Lunch though.

You know those nice and regular French verbs you get taught first, such as ‘parler’ (to speak) and ‘dîner’ (to dine)? Well, they used to be quite irregular! Not ‘je parle’, but ‘je parole’. Not ‘il dîne’, but ‘il desjune’. My 2 graphics will tell you how regular verbs became irregular – and back!

Lot of artist put way to much pressure on themselves and the persived reach of portfolio day. You can share your work any time and it can be old long as you feel it reflects you and your ability. The main thing is the suport of others to get art seen so don’t be afraid to simply ask for support.

every time you make the choice *not* to repost some idiot's sockpuppet account for droopy political takes or some obvious troll's bot on my main feed for any reason, any reason at all, just know I appreciate you and your discretion so much more than I would any dunk

I am picking up a new hobby. Literally just to assemble and paint: absolutely no intent to actually play. Unfortunately I’m still waiting on primer and plastic glue, so I can’t do much yet. I already had acrylic paints though.

Currently, a diagram is making the rounds that is claimed to show a significant reduction in Russian disinformation bot activity after Ukrainian drones hit Yandex data centers. There is no evidence that this plot shows real data. I suspect that this image is AI-generated.

Use reference. I’m serious. I get it that somehow you or someone convinced you that using reference is “cheating.” It’s not. You are just hindering yourself.
