Airbnb went from a cheap way to crash in a spare bedroom or rent a vacation house for a weekend and turned into "what if hotels openly hated you and acted like they were doing you a favor by letting you give them hundreds of dollars to stay there, and also it's more expensive"

Caroline Haskins@carolinehaskins.bsky.social

Airbnb is banning its hosts from making guests do things like “stripping the bed, taking trash offsite, or washing and putting away dishes.” The hosts....are not taking it well: www.wired.com/story/airbnb...

Watching Bake-Off as a Yank is so awesome. You can understand what they call pudding, biscuits, etc. but suddenly they’re saying, “Toby’s cake will have all the classic Gingham Day flavors, in the form of Swat the Grump,” and then they make like a carnival game where you shoot lobsters with a cannon

if you don't know your own address it's because you specifically don't have to know it. people that detached from reality shouldn't be in a position to drive social policy for those of us living in reality

Ezra Klein asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang about AI making kids worse at math and reading. Huang’s reply: “Does it matter?” Then he said he doesn’t know his own address or phone number. “We’re going to lose some fine intellectual dexterity.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/23/o...

This is the letter kids got at the end of Dolly’s Imagination Library. I defy you to read this and not cry.

What Dolly taught us is that it is in fact possible to be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams of avarice but still be a fundamentally good person with a strong moral compass, and the only reason more rich people aren't like that is because they don't want to be.

Much as I hate to give Kanter the time, nobody here will support him anyway. Sky players kept Tasha away from him

Pretty stoked that my wife and I are taking our oldest (3 yrs) to his first movie theatre movie today. I don’t think he’ll understand ALL of The Odyssey, but I think it’s important to expose him to the classics

Gonna blow my kids’ minds when I tell them in high school we would go to the 7-11, dudes with fakes would buy beer, then we’d caravan to the house of a kid whose parents were out of town to have a rager

jon christian@jonchristian.net

kids today are literally confused about whether "partying" was real or an urban legend

It’s rare that I’m in the presence of a Real Gamer, but this is one of those times: I’m in the waiting room of the car shop while my car gets serviced. They called another dude’s name who was playing his Switch with headphones and controllers detached, and told the guy to wait a min bc the game!!

I'm loathe to share this man, but this one is personal. My masters thesis was on the MMR controversy, so believe me when I say that this path of separation of the MMR will result in nothing but increased sales of too-small coffins, and children with life-altering medical conditions.

Trump: "The MMR I think should be taken separately. This is based on what I feel."

I kept the soda bottle from my son’s vaccination visit to reuse for special occasions

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "At one year, you should have 5 separate visits for vaccines rather than getting them all in the same day. I've seen proof of where they have a vaccination thing that looks like the size of a bottle of soda and pour it into a little child's body."

Genuine question: who is the audience for this?

Feel like I’ve leveled-up my Dad-ing recently, as I’ve eclipsed 25% of my day being spent closing doors to keep cold air in, and closing lids (like for my infant son’s butt wipes) to keep them from getting ruined. Never thought this day would come for me, but here we are!

Breaking news: we pay taxes for things we don’t use! I wish more of those things were efforts to help people who need it, and not funding wars nobody asked for. NYC taxpayers will benefit by their community improving and their neighbors in need getting fresh produce and slightly lower prices

USA TODAY Opinion@usatodayopinion.usatoday.com

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

Am I crazy for saying Fritos? I might be a weirdo, but I think they’re elite even without dip, and they’re EASILY the best dipping chip
