OK but guys, Chrome still can't deal with Canadian spelling or postal codes

Next week, Google is putting an experimental satellite into orbit that is the first step towards building A.I. data centers in space. This technology is all still very speculative, but tech leaders are increasingly adamant that this is the future of compute. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/24/t...

It is genuinely incredible how certain people will know absolutely nothing about a subject yet pronounce on it confidently, projecting their own views as though timeless and ironclad

"Warrior culture." The fuck are you talking about. You look like you trained a horse to jump off a diving board.

can't stop laughing at this Poilievre: "We will reinstill a warrior culture, not a woke culture."

I’m also getting to the point where I really appreciate how the original Star Wars was portrayed as being part of a larger narrative without feeling the need to expand on what the rest of the story was. I like telling “middle story” stories as art-pieces without needing a before or an after.

NEW: Growing fears of food shortages on USS Tripoli & other US ships in the Middle East. This photo is the kind of meals now being served. It was sent by a sailor to her family. Families are now trying to send food parcels to the ships. Full story 👉 www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

I used to write the WaPo editorials on US-Africa policy, as well on as human rights and politics on the continent. To describe hundreds of thousands of deaths on the continent as “messy” is an absolute abomination.

Cool cool, so it's going to keep dragging my 7yo daughter's corpse along the road after it kills her, huh?

Driverless delivery vans in China are conquering rough urban roads and dodging obstacles with cutting-edge tech. The future of delivery is here.

Hard agree. The best cities I’ve lived in have been full of all different kinds of people. Places that are overwhelmingly single culture can be nice to visit but I think I’d eventually succumb to utter boredom living there.

I realise I'm just a freak, but living in a multicultural city is the best thing of all time, it's just the best possible human experience and i can not understand why anyone on earth would be like "weve got to destroy this"

Yeah well I grew up in a mushroom village, so I’m not really used to how you do things. We used big giant mushrooms as our houses. We used bioluminescent mushrooms as lamps. And we didn’t try to change the plan last second if the other person already made reservations I guess that’s normal here

The fact that a second strike like that in an armed conflict is definitely a war crime should not completely negate the fact that *there is no war* and ALL the strikes are cold-blooded murder. The whole chain of command are murderers.

Nobody who joins ICE has ever had friends, enjoyed sex, or made another person happy in any way. They’re miserable bastards and they only want to spread their misery, to offload it. They will fail at this, too. Their misery will just get worse. I have scientific proof of this.

If only the Toronto Police had some way of knowing in advance where the vandals will strike

All the panics & long features about political correctness & “free speech” on college campuses - with real buy in from centrist pundits at prestigious mags - was always a ruse for this: right-wing control over universities

Everyone wants there to be a grand scheme behind all of this but the terrible truth is that extremely stupid people are in charge and they have a fanatical devotion to wrong, childlike concepts of society and economics cooked up by right wing radio hosts in order to sell tainted dietary supplements

Another one for the “economic concerns as a mask for cultural concerns” file. This delusion that manufacturing jobs will come roaring back if we cast the right policy spell isn’t really about that being a desirable economic goal, but about romanticizing Manly Work.

Barrista@onbluskysku.bsky.social

The worst part of this is that even if manufacturing jobs came back because of this (they won’t) and even if Americans retooled for those jobs (they won’t) those jobs sucked! It’s like demanding to return to being a farming society. People fled that life the instant they could, in the millions!
