Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

macabre = “muh-KAHB” Worcestershire = “WOOSS-ter-sheer” omnipotent = “ahm-NI-puh-tunt” reticent = “RET-uh-sunt” epitome = “ih-PIT-uh-mee” myriad = "MEER-ee-ud" Never make fun of someone if they mispronounce a word. It means they learned it by reading.

Apparently unpopular opinion: you should have tech support that works during your customer's local biz hours. I shouldn't put in a ticket at 9:30am my time and consistently get a response back at 11:30pm my time. ~24h response time (for me to get back to my desk the next day) is terrible.

Truth Social is planning to sell access to Trump’s posts to Wall Street before they become public. Trump is so brazen that not only is he admitting he posts to manipulate the stock market, he’s charging Wall Street to get in on the grift.

nothing shows you how strong you are (were) quite like taking 2 months off from weightlifting for injury + sickness, and then coming back and getting completely gassed on weights that used to be light work.

The world’s largest sand battery got through Finland’s harshest winter in years. 2,000 tonnes of sand, heated to 500-600°C by cheap power, feeding district heating in Pornainen. And it worked. Result from one install: oil down 100%, emissions down 70%. Industrial process heat is the real prize.

It should be criminal to not have a "call me back when it's my turn" feature for customer support lines. Not really, but juuuuuuust short of criminal. I have better things to do with my attention than listen to the same 20 seconds of sax music interrupted by the same messages on a loop for an hour.

Everyone's onto gmail's plus-addressing (if they even accept emails with a + in them, surprisingly common for them to refuse!)... What gmail really needs is (free) built-in disposable alias generation that's indistinguishable from standard addresses. Getting spam? Trash. Done.

What a cool idea! Keep the pressure! @redactedreadingroom put all 3.5 million pages of the Epstein files bound together in 3,437 volumes of books, on display in a new exhibit in Tribeca. David Garrett, one of the organizers, says the goal is to push for the release of all of the files. #Pinks

Spaceships colliding with stuff is kind of a big deal at human scales. We live on a spaceship that pretty often just runs into stuff (meteors) that most of us rarely know/care is happening. Sometimes it's pretty. The air we breathe is our shield. Wild.

Galaxy-brain move from Anthropic: Undo the recent changes to rate limiting everyone hates (lol as if) & have "outages" more often. It's not like they compensate us for the time we couldn't use the product we're paying for. They can barely claim to have "two nines" uptime for ONE of these services.

I wrote and posted this to Instagram a couple of days ago and it became my most-read poem ever. I’m honored I get to feel big feelings alongside you all. I’m posting it here too and want to use this space more consistently. Hello friends ❤️

I genuinely do not understand why people say that GPT 5.4 is so much better than Opus. This is just one of probably 20 examples that have driven me to rage against GPT 5.4. I've been using GPT for < 1 week. For what it's worth I've found AI to be really helpful in resolving merge conflicts.

Logged into UptimeRobot for the first time in a while. I was prompted to "migrate alert contacts"... Ok, sure. Then I get this screen. No indication of what the problem is. No indication of what a sub-account is or why I would choose that option. Presumably red icon removes accounts? This UI sucks

Watching Moneyball (because why not?) and whoa... Chris Pratt is in this?! This is light-years before he was on my radar... (🤣 in true moneyball fashion.l!)

Has anyone found a GREAT workflow for the times you're elbows-deep in your branch when you find an important bug that's unrelated to your changes? You should fix the bug, but you should do so in its own branch from main so the fix isn't tied to your feature. Doing it manually sucks.

Maybe unpopular opinion? I hope mice get haptic motors and we can start using navigator.vibrate() even on desktop (not just mobile). When used well, it makes for a great UX.

Is there a place I can drop the email addresses of spammers to sign them up for a parade of horrible shit to be sent to their inboxes? Seems unfair that all I get to do is block them. Apropos of nothing, here is a random email address: jessa@tech-qbatch.site

Post your tmux config and something that you're proud of in it... Mine: github.com/atuttle/dotf... - better key mappings for working with windows - when a process sends bell (\a) the window gets a highlight color and a sound plays I'm new to tmux. show me your awesome setups!

I wish I could send an artificial bounce after receiving an email. Senders who continue to send to bouncing emails get poor deliverability. Why make spam prevention/cleanup incumbent on every recipient? If enough of us sent "late-bounces" bad senders would eventually lose the ability to send.

Spam is illegal, of course, but when has that ever stopped them? Like 90% of crap I unsubscribe from is stuff I never signed up for. (Thanks, data brokers and all you shit-hole companies that profit from them!) If you're not hitting them where it hurts, you're not hitting them at all.

This screed brought to you by: Appreciatively, JP Gaviria Melt Studio Disclaimer: If you don't want to get any more emails from me, respond with "no" and I won't email you again and Andrea Pals | Analyst for Market Research (If it is not relevant, a succinct "No" is sufficient.)

Scratch-n-sniff sticker proposal: "Works on my machine" IMO it should smell like ozone, since that's the smell of "whoops, I accidentally let the smoke out."

My 18 year old self would have been surprised how true "youth is wasted on the young" is... and doubly surprised that it has ~zero to do with free time, and playfulness and ~everything to do with back/knee pain and the vigor to just go do shit. This is why I prioritize workouts + skydiving.

I have to jump through so many more hoops to sign in to my dermatologist's portal than I do for my retirement or bank account websites. 🍌🍌🍌! Enter cell#, enter code sent via sms, email on file -> enter code sent by email. Now verify birthday & agree to TOS & check "remember me" that does nothing.
