Rootless (American) cosmopolitan. Occasional screeds mostly in Liberal Currents. Anti-doomer, anti-authoritarian, anti-bigotry, pro-rule of law, abolish ICE. Moreover this SCOTUS majority must be destroyed.

Domestically, this government will form a National Investigation Commision for Oct 7, manage the country and reduce corruption. They will battle a system that's been heavily skewed in favor of the current power structure (isn't competitive authoritarianism nice?).

But the same pressure might at the same time, at least in the near term, make Israeli politicians less likely to declare major policy changes so as not to appear to cave in to pressure. Instead they will go back to cooperating with the PA, and try to implement the 20p plan in Gaza.

The Palestinian issue is where you should expect the least anmount of explicit policy changes. A different government will likely try to curtail Jewish terrorism, and will face violence and criticism for doing so. Pressure will make it more determined.

Very good primer on the Israeli elections and the state of play of Israeli politics.

The "poor Russian conscripts" are actually, in the overwhelming majority, not conscripts at all, but people who go to war to murder Ukrainians for money. โ€‹"They have no choice" - what bullshit. Going to jail instead of bombing a playground full of children is a choice. Emigration is a choice.

I always find it interesting when BlueSky angrily says "X group of people isn't stupid!" If only because every group of people has stupid people in it. Stupid people do, in fact, exist. It is difficult for BlueSky, the retirement home for former gifted kids, to come to terms with this.

I'm old enough to remember when it was first reported that he said this and Congressional Republicans and his other lackeys vehemently denied it. He admit it dot gif.
