haters got absolutely smoked on the facts because the entire movement against AI power is built on fruit of a poisoned tree
opposing the growing and dangerous power of AI (and its purveyors) requires reckoning with the reality of how it works, not plugging your ears pretending it doesn't
Anthropic's S-1 shows an 85% gross margin in H1 from running its models, a reality check for skeptics who said pay-as-you-go model sales wouldn't be profitable (Stephanie Palazzolo/The Information)

Never watched any Anthony Bourdain's stuff but I feel like you probably shouldn't take life advice from a guy who couldn't handle a life of professionally traveling to cool places to eat food with cool people.
I'm starting to think Krillion is a fundamentally flawed daily game. Almost every day there's people complaining about their extremely niche answer not being included in the game about niche answers.
Lights are reflected off a bulletproof screen as President Trump speaks during a campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina. More photos of the week: reut.rs/4yGkBNh 📷 Evan Vucci
I feel like that "Beat Bugs" show must have had some type of special dispensation from the Beatles to use their songs but only if they interpret the lyrics in the most literal sense possible. They had the "penny lane", a lane made of pennies, "blackbird" who was a black bird with a broken wing etc.
It has come to my attention that many people are unaware that the person who figured out that the private key was 4 was a Something Awful forums goon: forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.p...
I figure they're just feeding the big LLMs training all sorts of structured data now that they've basically exhausted the human written corpus, just to see what happens. I'm guessing that's why they've been able to improve so rapidly without getting new textual data to chew on.
Slavery was and is a real thing that has brutalized hundreds of millions of people over the course of human history, if someone tells me a fucking chatbot is enslaved I'm immediately throwing hands. It's not cute, it's not intriguing, it's an insult to real people who suffered and suffer now.
we have reached the point in ai security hysteria such that "attempting to use a search engine once every minute or two, for a week" is being presented as a dramatic incident
I've watched enough internet documentaries to know that you can only get great things done when there's a dude with an undecipherable European accent involved.
I think everyone should post here, but equally I think bluesky should keep siloing users aggressively so I don't need to see all the new people who come here.
“I have come to bluesky to post about how everyone should go back to Twitter and then when I get yelled at I go, see, it’s so unfriendly here” is exceedingly tiresome at this point
When I posted something on X after a break someone immediately called me a race traitor. Posts about ancient history inevitably end up in race science territory. So I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t call that a friendly place. Is there an audience? Yes. I don’t want to sift through shit to talk to people.
1. Trump’s new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia is a prolific user of Truth Social where she regularly promoted Pizzagate and QAnon conspiracies, accusing elites in the Democratic Party and Hollywood of running child sex rings and eating people.
"Kiss from a Rose" is such a good song. The construction of it shouldn't work, and none of the bits fit together, but it just disagrees with the facts and brute forces its way into being one of the best songs you ever heard.
Trump's suit appears to be part of Jos. A. Bank's Traveler line. The suit is listed as having been made abroad using a wool-polyester-spandex blend. The company describes it as having the "ultimate stretch" and was designed to minimize body odor.
A good antidote to imposter syndrome is looking at the comments of other people using the same tools you are using. I saw a guy complain that a state of the art AI tool was unable to "download a video from a site" and that just drove home that people who didn't have a clue, continue to not have one.
Just published my first game on itch! It's a paper cutting game that you can play on your browser. I'm chuffed to bits that I actually got something published finally. #indiedevalbagames.itch.io/papersnips
you don’t hold "AI" accountable; you hold AI developers, vendors, and corporations that profit off it accountable
holding "AI accountable" is like holding a toaster accountable. it's an inanimate object. it doesn't have wishes, feelings, or desires
It's kind of interesting how people didn't understand germ theory in the 1800s, and they still don't. People seem to have this idea of "doctors didn't wash their hands" but they did, they washed them with water and soap until they looked clean. That's what made germ theory so hard to accept.
Just watched a vid about the Roman dodecahedra. I was expecting some mad wildcat theory, but this is actually a somewhat sensible hypothesis. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvwv...
Yall who are not from the UK don't understand that what Nigella Lawson is doing to Paul Hollywood is, she is gangsta checkin' him. Ask Mary Berry. He's failing
