Two books published in two days! 🤩 The Big Bus and Us, and Dinosaur Playtime are available now! Both published by HarperCollins (Collins and KumushaBook repectively). Written and illustrated by yours truly. #kidlitUK

There are these data centers that use minimal amounts of electricity and don't need millions of gallons of water, to cool them. They're called libraries.

The worst thing about AI train announcements in Italian is that they mess up all the accents of place names (incorrectly assuming that the stress always goes onto the last syllable). Roma Termíni non se po' senti'.

If you're looking for ways to support creatives, writing positive reviews of their work is 1. Free 2. Full of compliments that encourages them 3. Marketing they can reshare to promote their work 4. Just a decent thing to do, thank you!

I'm watching Death Comes to Pemberley (2018) on Prime. The subtitles are "auto" (read: AI) and they are soooo wroooong all the time. Darcy is "Dossie", Wickham is "Wake up" and Mr Alverston is "His Majesty". But this one tops them up! #AIslop

The narrative about London crime is truly so BORING to Londoners. Those of us who walk & travel around our city safely every day, every night. The likeliest daily risk to Londoners is of being ripped off by our landlord or somewhere charging us £4.50 for a coffee. #r4today

Ok. So, if OpenAi can buy a 3-year licence from Disney, then all AI companies can afford to buy licenses from all artists worldwide and stop stealing people's work. FFS.

It's a whole new world for Mickey, Simba, Stitch and more as Disney brings hundreds of its characters to Sora, the short-form video platform from OpenAI, as part of a three-year licensing agreement. n.pr/44ph9KC

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?" Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

I often think I don't know sh*t because I didn't go to art school...but I've got over 10 books under my belt, and over a decade of work in the design industry too (which helped a lot in making my illustration practice eddicient).. However, I never know *how* to share my knowledge..

Lo 🎨🔞@lodrawsfilth.bsky.social

Share your knowledge if/when you can. Teaching other people how to do what you do doesn’t lessen your art - it just means more and better art for everyone. I appreciate when people are willing to tell me about their brushes, how they study, etc… I want to put that back out into the world.

1. The European Parliament’s attempt to ban plant-based foods from being sold as “sausages”, “burgers” etc is a direct response to livestock industry lobbying. This is a short thread on how utterly bleeding ridiculous it is. 🧵1/6

Got my Irish PLR. My books were borrowed over 800 times! That's a little over £50, but you know what, it's a huge increase from last year!! Thank you so much Irish librarians and little Irish readers 🇮🇪 💕✨️ #PLR #kidlitUK #IrishPLR

So many jokes going around all my social media things right now about the prez' neck and what bothers me the most about it? They compare it to a vagina. People! It looks like a vulva! A vulva! Get your anatomy right, please.

I think there should be an imprint called Star Fucker Books that only signs celebrities and social media stars. I mostly think the purpose is for big 5 publishers to have the odd famous person at their events and for their corporate promos.

One of the things about this study is that a lot of baby and toddler books are written in house, by editors. So the study reveals the whiteness of editorial in kidlit even if not explicitly. But, big picture, this trend is unacceptable. I remember so many promises www.theguardian.com/books/2025/o...

theguardian.com‘Catastrophic decline’ in Black representation in children’s booksA report by charity Inclusive Books for Children found that of the 2,721 books surveyed, only 51 featured a Black main character, down by 21.5% since 2023

My next picture book is ready to pre-order! It's a rompus of a book. Expect prehistoric small humans, dodos, and dinosaurs! Dinosaur Playtime is out in February in the UK with KumushaBooks (HarperCollins). #kidlituk #kidlit

I've also delivered the roughs for my next picture book this morning, almost a whole week ahead of deadline. And today was supposed to be a day off as I did I live event yesterday. Relax is my second name...not.

Today I made a whole new section on my website which is basically an entirely new website. Because my creative career has taken a new route yet again... and so now I probably should add website design to my skills and services. No, I won't, I'm joking. I'm a creative octopus, though 🐙

For the love of all that is good in the book world, please work with real-life illustrators, cover designers and other creatives. In the UK, they are absolutely the best in the world.

I'm working on the roughs of my next picture book and I'm just looooooving it so much. Pencils are my favourite part of making a children's book: the research, the layouts, the problem solving, the potential of expanding the narrative...✨️💫 it's magical 💫✨️ #kidlitUK #kidlitart #kidlit

OBAMA: It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.

Today, the UN officially designated Israel’s assault on Gaza as a genocide. As a party to the Genocide Convention, the U.S. has a legal obligation to obey our own laws, stop weapons sales to Israel, and demand a permanent ceasefire. End the genocide. Ceasefire now.

When I was 5 years old I helped my own nonna preparing gnocchi. After making the potato dough, I carefully handled the knife to cut the first ones, when she snatched the knife off me saying "Give it to me, you're cutting them all wrong". One of the most defining moments of my childhood. 🥲

Anne Thériault@annetheriault.bsky.social

One time the nonnas told Pat that she was cutting the carrots wrong and they should be a quarter of an inch thick. The next week Pat brought a ruler from home and made a big show of measuring each slice. I think she might be their biggest nemesis (or else maybe they’re hers)
