I have many concerns about how my day will go as a TA in a British primary school but being shot isn’t one of them. Thank goodness my worries are about it raining at playtime, the behaviour of a few children and delivering my reading interventions. #PrimarySchool #USA #Guns

An absolute scandal this. & I’ve been a devoted listener. To cancel BBCFreeThinking & Thinking Allowed signals a dangerous abandonment of ideas & the life of the mind in a period when both are imperilled by irrationalists, conspiracists, demagogues. They will gloat www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I loved this book but I'm annoyed I gave my copy to someone else and now want my own. Though I suspect I might give that one to my mum. But at least I can nick it back off her. Plus I love Toms mums lino prints and also references to Bagpuss.

Dementia and Alzheimer's are absolutely devastating not only to the sufferer but for their friends and loves ones as well. Currently if it happens to your parent or partner you're effectively on your own navigating this terrible and often very expensive landscape of care.

Every time someone links to this film, I have to repost it. It's one of the most significant bits of British 20th century art. Everything about it is incredible. Groundbreaking music production by Daphne Oram. Amazing camera work by Wolfgang Suschitzky (who later filmed Get Carter).-

I would love to ask a prominent BBC journalist to give me an example of an illegitimate concern. Is seems to me that it has become a question not of fact, logic, or ethics but of volume. If a big enough proportion of a village was anxious about Bigfoot or Chemtrails, BBC would cover it in a way...

I do hope that at the very least it has received the usual spike in donations when the toddlers get their Black Action Man kit on. rnli.org/support-us/g... The irony being most of them would be terrified to find themselves out of their depth in the local pool, let alone saving lives in the open sea.

This novel sounds amazing! Can we help a fellow writer out? Even if you can’t buy it, could you please boost it by reposting? Thank you!

2000+ Americans have bought this book on import from the UK. Many of them have told me they love it. Meanwhile, the UK publishing industry: "I am sorry. We can't sell this book to an American audience. They will find it too British." FREE worldwide delivery here: blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/pro...

The Government is threatening to switch off Freeview – the free telly you get from an ordinary aerial, which risks leaving older people, those in rural areas, and anyone feeling the pinch isolated. There’s an official consultation happening right now but it closes in a matter of days: 38d.gs/8sme

Ambulance Helicopter lifting off into the storm. We weren’t really hit, but Cambridge direction is a constant squall of thunder. Extraordinary. These are mid western storm skies. I am moved very easily, but it was weird to see a small cake stand on the common, with such a furious sky above.

A thread on the dispute at Exeter Uni. #ucu #defendexeteruni @ucu.org.uk On 15 June HR called Exeter UCU into a confidential meeting and informed us they would be putting over 500 colleagues at risk of redundancy and expected to loose around 200 staff. The number of c.150 you’ll have seen is FTE.

But what if...Fallon gets together with Conrad, then tells C about what happened with George, then C takes it out on G at work, leading to George claiming constructive dismissal against Amber's dad. Or am I catastrophising again (and if so, please can I get a job as a SW)? #TheArchers

Dipping into this wonderful collection @roguestrands.bsky.social with my morning tea. I'm tremendously touched by 'Family Matters' poems in "Whatever You Do, Just Don't". The little chimes of familiarity. 'Grecian 2000' is a wry reflection on the push & pull of family teasing . 🍵 📖

There’s a lot of noise around potential NEET. Like everything in education (and life) , it’s complex. Social media would love us to have a binary argument, but it’s much more nuanced than that. Here are my thoughts . ruthswailes.com/identify-nee...
