MARY KIRBY (Varric), SYLVIA FEKETEKUTY (Liara, Emmrich), AND SARAH HAYWARD are currently making their own indie project about romanceable assassins. Please checkout @northmiststudios.bsky.social for their progress and please support them on patreon ❤️

Casting a net of questionable size here, if you’re an ex-BioWare dev (or know of one who may not see this) working on something cool you’d like featured in a roundup at Kotaku, drop it below. Store page links helpful, and let me know what your role was at BW. Projects big and small welcome! RTs plz!

If you're a BioWare fan, a developer influenced by its games, or a media person who was impacted by them and want to talk about what the studio's games have meant to you for a Kotaku story, please reach out in a dm here or at kshepard@kotaku.com

Very sad about BioWare 😔 Dragon Age will forever have its own special place in my heart now and forever. I wish the devs the best going forward and I hope they know how much their games and stories mean to us and the impact they had

Former BioWare Senior Writers Mary Kirby (Varric, Vivienne, Lucanis) and Sylvia Feketekuty (Liara, Josephine, Emmrich) and Sarah Hayward (Former BioWare Cinematic Director) have found a home at North Mist with many others in our network.

Very heavy news as our former studio, BioWare closes its doors today. It was a formative place for many. However, many former BioWare devs are scattered around the industry. Find them, support them. Like, follow, comment and help us prove there is still support for the types of games we make!

I am who I am because I fell lin love with Garrus Vakarian when I was 15 and it changed me fundamentally as a person. Thank you Bioware for everything, the creatives behind that studio deserve better.

Buy @trickweekes.bsky.social books! Follow ex-BW devs at studios they end up in (or even new ones they found)! I know I've said it 100 times, but there has never been a better team than those I worked with on Veilguard. I miss working with them every day, and I am begging you to support them now

I am forever grateful for the human writers, artists, and developers who made KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age, and whose games I've been playing for 23 years. I'm sad to hear that BioWare is being shut down for good.

To me, the power of stories comes from the fact that they come from people. From artists, with individual perspectives and ideas, who allow us to experience new worlds, and even to co-create with them. We can't forget the humans.

I'm trying to spotlight at least a few of the other projects that have been brought to life by the writers, artists, developers, and studio heads who worked on some of my favourite games over the years. The growing list of games, podcasts, novels, and short stories: www.tumblr.com/ofcrowsanddr...

I genuinely don't think it's possible to call and get no response. This soggy ball we all live on is not big enough to hide us from each other forever.

Hey there. Subtweet but maybe it applies broadly. You created something painful and visceral and true and heartfelt. And that's amazing. It doesn't matter if it was too heavy for someone else. Don't worry about them. Just say what you need to say. Someone will need to hear it, too.

One of my big internet hygiene things is to try to ignore it when strangers talk about minor annoyances with internet behaviour. It's so easy, in certain spaces, to fall into the trap of trying to make oneself as invisible and non-annoying as possible.

I don't go here, but as a big fan of unreliable narrators/liars in fiction, I'm fascinated by people saying that a book has its facts wrong because the events contradict a statement made by the lying vampire man.

Fun fact. Canada's arts & culture gdp is basically the same as oil & gas at about $70 billion. Direct funding for the arts & culture is about $700 million annually albertaviews.ca/arts-publicl... It's up to $30 billion for oil & gas depending on how you count www.theenergymix.com/canada-pours...

It's great to see tailoring accommodate such extreme movement today. This level of tailoring was a bit more common in the past, as you can see in old films featuring Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, but many modern suits will lift off the wearer's neck even when they're just walking.
