The “every accusation is a confession” thing is maybe overstated but when it comes to Republicans and “sharia” it is unquestionably the case that the people trying to impose their religion on others through the legal system in the US are not Muslims bsky.app/profile/qasi...
Jan is a chief CBS reporter. She tweeted this about Tommy, the Republican operative accusing Abdul El-Sayed of terrorism, then deleted it.

Together with other scientists I’m suing the 🇺🇸 US National Institutes of Health for violating our 1st Amendment rights & censoring our health science. I’m ready to shine a light on the darkest days. Buckle up, read on. This gets pretty wild… THREAD
By terminating research grants like Kelton's to censor views it doesn’t like, the NIH is blocking scientists from work that would advance public health for all of us. We're pushing back.
Tell Congress to demand the NIH restore the grants and stop its censorship campaign at aclu.org/nih_censorship_
I want to talk to you about an article @wired.com's @telliotter.bsky.social published yesterday that should be getting a LOT more attention than it currently is --
It's all about how the US Census Bureau is overrun with staffers from a notable MAGA think tank.

His lectures would typically be slides from the field (many CR). You'd sit in the dark scribbling some notes as he spoke to them; you'd be absorbed in the the stories and mysteries throughout but when the lights came on, you'd have well-structured notes on basic principles, clearer than a textbook.
A particularly memorable story (allowing for 40 years worth of brain fuzz) was when he spent a day as a hunter/gatherer, down to holding the knife in this hand, grabbing the prey with that hand.
Here's the official announcement of Parton's passing from her reps, along with the request that in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com
Dolly Parton, among a thousand other amazing things she did in her life, gifted over 330 million books to kids through her Imagination Library program. Her passing is a tremendous loss to the world, but you can support the program today to keep it going imaginationlibrary.com
The Library is devastated to learn of the passing of Dolly Parton, a music legend and titan of children's literacy. Her Imagination Library program has earned multiple Library Literacy Awards and, in 2018, she visited us to donate its 100 millionth book to our collection and host a story time. 🦋❤️
Thank you Trump and RFK Jr. As someone with a PhD in immunology and many years working in the medical research and drug development field, and a Pennsylvanian, my heart is bleeding and raging.
BREAKING:
Two people have died of measles in Pennsylvania, the state's health department has confirmed.
Both people were unvaccinated.
They are the first such deaths in the U.S. this year, and the first in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 35 years.
In this Washington, DC BDSM dungeon, "ballroom" still means the place the dominatrix takes you when you've been a very bad boy. But they do know this: It's nice to come down here for a break from your day job rubber stamping Trump's whims from your seat on the highest court in the land.
Merck and Moderna say their mRNA cancer vaccine worked in a late-stage melanoma trial. A roadkill eating nepo baby heroin addict says all it will do is give people autism. For busy melanoma patients, it can be hard to know who to trust.

…because I value EVIDENCE over conspiracy, DATA over rumors, and SCIENCE over politics.
No public official is beyond criticism, but there’s a difference between honest scientific guidance and misinformation.
I’ll choose evidence EVERY time.

Will Bunch reports on Mount Holly Springs. A quaint town, but something akin to invasion of the body snatchers, were local police have decided that all things considered, they'd really rather be working for ICE. share.inquirer.com/3Iv0yc
If Graham ever did fully understand what he enabled, we'll never know now. And, it is frightening but not shocking how much further along the path we are now than we were when this was written.
Lindsey Graham was one of the main subjects of a @theatlantic.com cover story I wrote in 2020, on why people collaborate with regimes they know are immoral. Here's a gift link:

Ooooh, are we sharing fables? I got one for you.
So, there's this frog that enters public service, presumably for the right reasons. He spends years as a district judge, then gets elected to the state supreme court, then attorney general of that state.

Dear news media,
Do not give the Trump regime credit for opening the Strait of Hormuz, if it happens. I know it's hard to remember things that happened less than 3 months ago, but Trump's illegal war closed the strait in the first place.
Sincerely,
Mark
Y'all if you think that the reason we don't have universal healthcare is that it costs too much, I don't know what to say to you.
We would get better healthcare for less money with universal healthcare. The cost is not the issue.
There are many reasons we don't have universal healthcare.
I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy.
She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.
So Twitter is now not only the world's pre-eminent Nazi hang-out but is also a peddler of AI-generated child pornography, and the guy that owns it is about to become the world's first trillionaire? Do I have this right?
Trump and Stephen Miller are actually failing in crucial ways. Deportations are lagging behind their goals, courts are mostly functioning, and their fascist, ethnonationalist cruelties have unleashed a countermobilization of unexpected scope and power.

He murders people in intl waters w/o due process or evidence. He demolishes our East Wing because he feels like it w/o consultation. He fuels an abusive police state to grab people off the street w/o due process. Meanwhile, billionaires & corporations keep handing him millions. They are complicit.
I should probably have just published this in the morning, but I had some thoughts about the East Wing — particularly given something Trump said during his 2020 speech accepting the GOP nomination. www.pbump.net/o/the-presid...
