My OCD has superpower aspects. Advocates monthly town meetings at Dunkin' in breakaway NE. Dreams of being an economist. Assume it's a failed attempt at humor. Don't want the drama.

i think the white house should be decorated like a red lobster

derek guy@dieworkwear.bsky.social

I grew up in a lower income immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster for "special days." But we also understood the White House should not look like the inside of Red Lobster. It's condescending to assuming working ppl are culturally illiterate bc their experience is shaped by their limited means.

Zelda Southport (Tracey Ullman) is going to wind up coaching the men's team in S05 of Ted Lasso, isn't she? The men-coach-women-why-can't-women-coach-me angle plus Ullman being a charming lunatic. Southport made clear she wanted Richmond for the men's side, so it seems natural.

Would it not be far more effective to tax the rich sufficiently to maintain bridges and roads?

is one of those situations “DAMMIT i’m in a michael bay movie again”

All of this attempt to love Twitter again makes me miss my amateur map and data folks on Election Twitter. They were a fun balm when I burned out of other social media platforms in 2018. Many were young--high school, college--and I realized this morning they now are adults working. Time.

This is one reason why VT's consolidation plan doesn't add up. Close local schools and have longer bus rides to regional ones? Fuel prices will not go down. Wake up state officials! Vermont school districts scramble to cover the increased cost of diesel vtdigger.org/2026/10/08/v...

"[GDP] is just one measure of an economy." "...it's a pretty important measure."

Watch Tucker Carlson get a quick economics lesson after claiming Russia’s economy is bigger than Britain’s.

So frustrating. I didn't know about this until the day after. Read the article, saw several activities/events I wish I knew about. Need better systems to get the word out. A celebration of “maple-fired” punk highlights challenging times for Vermont’s live music vtdigger.org/2026/09/22/a...

Old man here who loved their look as a 20 something, but the Procliamers have aged into cliches of men who would say transphobic things.

Bluesky keeps recommending an account. I decline, clicking the X. Not interested in the account; the account is fine. Next day, recommends the account. It's been doing this all summer. Now I'm incredibly biased against the account because Bluesky, not the account.

Republican reboot of Danny Boyle's YESTERDAY but Jack Malik, realizing there are no cigarettes and J.K. Rowling did not write Harry Potter, plows his ripped off Beatles royalties into tobacco and funds anti-trans campaign. A mirror zone, but Malik already has a go-tee so evil Malik has none?

I just thought of a P.G. Woodhouse Wooster and Jeeves in a post-apocalyptic scenario. Same dynamics and rich twits but a bit of steampunk to keep the saunas and coups and luxury going. But also mutant attacks for a good round of hunting sport. Not sure if the rights are public.

Talking with family about music. Me: It's like Billy Joel. I'd never buy any of his albums, but I'm always happy when his songs come on the radio. Son 1: I've never paid for music and no one listens to the radio. Son 2: Billy Joel's great. Technology is tearing families apart.

When the Switch 2 came out I pushed my sons to play Scissor Clips together (kinda forced bonding) and they had a fun time for about an hour. But is also comes up occasionally, with one saying "Remember...." That's all some games need to be. * same with Arms, but an entire Thanksgiving

Aerial_Knight@aerialknight.com

Just a reminder: a game doesn’t have to be a 10/10 or even a 9/10 to be a good game. The “I only play masterpieces” shit is part of the reason the industry is where it is right now. Let games just be good.

For folks worried about situations like this, look into a 504 plan. This recognizes an identified disability but is more focused on accommodations a teacher can make themselves (i.e., extended test times). It protects your kid and you just list things that they already do and work.

It's actually bad pedagogy, especially before high school. The best AP course I heard about was an open one, where some kids knew they couldn't keep up so the teacher modified their load because they really wanted to learn some of the stuff. Also, lit circles for elementary should be choice books.

I don't think Trump should be able to use any AI imagines unless he can answer 3 easy questions from geeks in that subject (comics, military). Trump, sits down with nerd in CHAOTIC GOOD t-shirt. Nerd: First question, Hal Jordan's original job... Trump: Security....

👀 The White House also posted an AI-generated video of President Trump as Green Lantern.

I feel smug when I order things from Amazon that they can't be making money on. Like, I know how much it costs to ship weight set plates with free Prime. * yeah, they're now selling my info for much more than any of this is worth, but smug with coffee....

Defector has variety. So, sports, great. Election stuff, great. But it is journalism but not factoid data (most of the time) but not just opinion blogs stuff, either. But real, like authentic, not a scam. And that's what I wonder: Is success built on trust and curiosity and honesty? With....

With a bunch of these folks, they're grifters. I don't trust Silver because it feels like he's selling himself. And Taylor.... yeah. (On the Dem side, can Carville just shut it?) People want answers. They want transparency, which is honesty in how you got there and admitting when it goes wrong.

I got served this on Threads and accidentally woke my (very annoyed) husband from laughing so hard when I got to The Point.

worst sitcom you've watched HOMETOWN HONEYS. Pilot shown during summer, 2 hick towing companies compete. Each has hot tight-jean sister--good company blonde, evil company dark hair--ends with them fighting and falling into oil pit so covered in oil. Fever dream? Never found mention of it
