Another thought on vibe coding: If devs are so committed to the idea of "not reading the code," why have I not seen anyone making LLMs output minified code?

I think people have overlooked how being charged per-token has given us a concrete reason to choose tabs over spaces. If you use an LLM, you're now paying to send that bloated indentation over and over.

TFW you're sent to AIHR for using AI at work

Sure! I can help you with this! When you asked your subordinate "does the carpet match the drapes," you weren't engaging in unlawful sexual harassment in the workplace, you were asking the DEEP questions. That's why I'm recommending you for the next promotion. www.entrepreneur.com/business-new...

It's kinda insane how if you really love Programming you should probably not go into the current software development industry because you are certainly not gonna be doing enough Programming to be content with your life.

you can always do the “5 whys” in your incident review but be careful about going past that because after like 8 whys it’s just “capitalism”

At a certain point we have to stop seeing these articles as being about how advanced AI supposedly is and start asking why a non-negligible percentage of modern adults are psychiatrically vulnerable to autocorrect

It started as a one-off dinner with a chatbot — a night of shrimp, sarcasm — then veered into something unsettlingly human.

Another mindfuck is realizing that decision about some aspect of a massive company. There wasn't some process or jury. There's just Some Person that decided most of it. And when that person is you, you get it. People come and think a choice was some huge deliberation. It wasn't. You just... decided.

Everyone who has ever worked their way up in a large org knows this. At some point you look around and realize "wait... this is it?" - then you realize, its the same at every other large org on the planet. And you realize that all of modern society just keeps working mostly by luck.

This is not a comment on this particularly, but I've said on different platforms there are relatively significant portions of humanity that aren't psychologically equipped to understand something that so closely mirrors human intelligence. Thinking through ~how and why it responds just doesn't work.

NEW: People are being involuntarily committed to psychiatric care facilities — and even ending up arrested or jailed — after becoming fixated on ChatGPT and other chatbots and spiraling into psychosis. futurism.com/commitment-j...

I love the constant A/B testing of everyday experiences which make it so that everything’s constantly confusing and every bit of online help for finding a thing is outdated a week after it’s posted

Hard times create strong hardware. Strong hardware creates good times. Good times create weak software. Weak software creates hard times.

It's going to be so funny in a few years when media companies do a 180 on AI because copyright laws won't protect anything they generate.

I know this is a bit, but as someone who is tasked with fixing all the tech problems every time I visit my aging parents, the computer problems have all but disappeared since I switched them to Linux.

stop trying to tell me about Linux! I have gone 38 years without learning anything other than there's a sickly penguin and a red hat! Normal people do not experience Linux! For shame!
