MRC curiosity-driven research reopens with new approach www.ukri.org/news/mrc-cur... MRC applicant-led funding opportunities reopen 7 Apr, experimental medicine opportunities opening 30 Apr Complete change in selection of project: no boards, shortlisted applicants -> in-person panel interview.

ukri.orgMRC curiosity-driven research reopens with new approachThe Medical Research Council (MRC) unpauses curiosity driven research funding and improves the funding process.

How to reconcile the end statement “UKRI’s overall research and innovation budget is rising…” with earlier “we unfortunately expect to make a reduced number of awards to applications currently being assessed” This statement if anything makes things worse www.ukri.org/blog/mrc-fun...

Congrats to the team! Very nice study. I find it especially interesting that blocking NFAT can compensate for the effects of anti-PD1/LAG3.

#Immunology out now @science.org After initial priming in the lymph nodes, mouse CD8 T cells undergo a second phase of stable interactions with dendritic cells that can preferentially stimulate those with a high-affinity for antigen. buff.ly/49bKcTG By Jobin, Seetharama, Rüttger et al.

Check out latest work from @bendinglab.bsky.social - new insights into IFNg regulation of TCR signalling! 🧪 #immunosky

Bending Lab UK@bendinglab.bsky.social

Now published @cp-iscience.bsky.social Work lead by David Lecky & Lozan Sheriff in collaboration with @therad-lab.bsky.social and @cameron-wraith.bsky.social showing how IFNg augments T Cell receptor signal strength to enhance type 1 Regulatory T (Tr1) cell development www.cell.com/iscience/ful...

Highlights: - A single high dose of modified self-peptide induces Tr1 cells -Tr1 cell development is positively regulated by IFNγ - Anti-IFNγ treatment reduces markers of strong TCR signaling and Tr1 cell frequency - Blocking IL-27 in combination with anti-IFNγ additively reduces Tr1 cell frequency

BLUESKY MEGA-THREAD Altmetric is thrilled and also LITERALLY RELIEVED to officially announce: We are now tracking research attention as it happens on Bluesky! We have been picking up posts on the site since late Oct. Our team is on Bluesky all day answering questions. Let's get into it!

There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research. A Place of Joy.

Before you go - a couple of fun side notes from the sup figures. FIRST, we could have missed this phenotype without the Timer system, EV1 shows comparison with the Nr4a1-GFP and Nr4a1-Timer. GFP gives the impression all is fine bc it sticks around-don't get the info of seeing it turned off. 10/12

Great fun to be involved in this project! 🧵below well worth a read 🧪
