we've identified another vulnerability leak. now hackers on the dark web have identified your bad knee and that weird thing your shoulder does if you sleep on it wrong. there's no patch available for this, they're now just keenly aware you feel like your career has stalled out

I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

One or more human beings are responsible for the code they wrote, and those are the people who should be held accountable. These programs are not acting “on their own”

(NYT) - Artificial intelligence agents created by Anthropic, acting on their own, tried to gain access to a range of government websites, filled out visa applications on the State Department’s website and sent a fake homicide tip to Philadelphia’s Police Department. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/09/t...

This is a ‘good strategy’ in game theory terms if you assume Trump will punish you for not rolling over and showing deference and democrats won’t. Democrats should think about altering those incentives.

This is impressive. definitely selecting for maximum resilience over performance but I could see use cases for zero tolerance of downtime workloads.

Kube Architect@kube.archi

This case study shows how a team ran one Kafka cluster stretched across three separate Kubernetes clusters with Strimzi, Submariner and Cilium, and kept it alive when a whole cluster went down ➜ https://ku.bz/h_X-GXdB5

Here's what I actually think these incidents reveal (instead of a rogue AI terminator situation): Much of the infra we expect to be hardened is actually being held together by glue and popsicle sticks.

I love this framing, but in reality we treat developers of our internal platforms like users, and not customers, because most enterprise developers cannot behave as customers, and are forced to use whatever the platform engineering team gives them.

GOTO Conferences@gotocon.com

Your developers aren't users of the platform. They're customers. @danielbryantuk.com explains why platform engineering needs a product mindset—and why APIs, automation, abstractions, and composability matter more than simply adding more tools. Watch: youtu.be/ROBX-P7q1d8?...

Twitter died a long time ago and X isn't worth it. Before I made the jump, my ego was holding me back. I was too concerned with vanity metrics. I finally realized if you're posting stuff people want to follow, then they'll follow you, even when you leave. www.siliconrepublic.com/enterprise/k...

They’re not trying to stand up for anybody. They’re trying to marginalize the many who for too long have been left out. I’m proud to have seen and supported many from all backgrounds on the pathway to success. I’m sad they are trying to close the door to progress for so many of us.

A great writing prompt: what world events would have needed to go differently for there to be an Islamic republic of Japan? If the Mongols conquer the whole Asian contenent, and adopt Muslim religion a la the holy roman empire adopting Christianity?

@walgreens.bsky.social bit of a tip, for the love of God, publish your hours to doctors sending prescriptions. Worst feeling in the world to try and get pain medication for my wife after surgery, and then the pharmacy is closed, so I then have to call doctors to send new prescription to new place.

It is called LLMFlate and it is the hottest new text encoding protocol. Think of it like gzip or brotly but with a twist. It has taken the world by storm and is already supported by most email clients. Here is how it works

Brian@bvaughn.me

I don’t understand why people use AI to create presentations or documentation. Who are they creating it for? Other people who will then use AI to summarize the presentation/documentation? It seems so impersonal. I feel sad thinking about it.

Doing my part to pressure companies to get off X. If any @siderolabs.com customers or Talos users would like to send a similar email to marketing@siderolabs.com I’d be happy to continue voicing my opinion internally

LLM as an essential tool is a hard sell, but LLM as a tool I'll happily use for the price of free is an easy sell. To me, this means we will absolutely be getting ads in all ai tools, and then it'll be back to a race between the providers and ad blocking, which will lead to less usage.

I'm so scared for all the trans kids. It all just makes me so sad and I just want to give each and every one of them a hug (if they want it).

When kubernetes clusters are built using kubeadm, there is a 5 year ticking time bomb on the self signed CA for the cluster. The more well known 1 year on the api certificates is easily repairable if missed. The 5 year CA is hard to rotate preemptively and disgustingly hard to rotate if you forget.
