We're on recess right now. Things were moving fast earlier and when we get another break I'll explain why but....the position DOJ is advocating wrt the filing of the second complaint is totally nuts.

Same note too bro. Totally spaced on our country’s daylight savings fetish.

I was mentally off the clock and ready for Arsenal. I didn’t know the match was at 4 instead of 3. Gotta open up Outlook again. 🫩

It’s just insane to me that the widespread stereotype is that liberals are the ones who look down on people when JD Vance is this openly contemptuous of the intellect of his constituents

Benjamin Rose reposted

Yeah he’s lying his ass off but it also makes no sense. The most complex one is, what, Qatar? Can you not pronounce Jordan? You gotta get into Central Asia to maybe get tripped up a little.

Yes, the point of the embargo and sanctions is to pressure Israelis to elect leaders who will adopt different policies. Unfortunately none of the potential prime ministerial candidates support adopting different policies.

Hen Mazzig@henmazzig.bsky.social

But I thought the point of the embargo and sanctions was to pressure Israelis to elect leaders who would adopt different policies? It sounds like Congresswoman Tlaib doesn't think Israel should exist at all.

Matt Yglesias defenders on social media insist that the Civil Rights Act itself was popular (so a 1963 Yglesias would have supported it) but it was just civil rights demonstrations/protest that was unpopular. However, the former simply doesn't exist without the latter.

Seeing how little coverage that house report that added another rape accusation to Trump's tally got today, I looked back on just the front page Benghazi stories (there were many, many more inside over these months).

DOJ: What we filed is superseding complaint. The way we read the rules -- I admit it's novel -- I had not done this before. Our reading is that to issue a superseding complaint, that does not require probable cause. If we were seeking an arrest warrant, it would.

The Paxtons’ blind trust invested $600K in a convicted fraudster’s new company. Experts say the trust wasn’t truly blind as the Paxtons reported losses from it on their taxes. Angela Paxton also sat on an affiliate’s advisory board for several years. with @texastribune.org

MJ: So DOJ is now essentially creating a new way of charging people....? This is very concerning....throwing gasoline on what defendants are saying about this being unusual. Why would you not just want a MJ to make a PC finding as you would in every other case?

I am practically alone in the fact that the last decade has made me more, not less, appreciative of the conventions of mainstream reporting. But the refusal to do more than to acknowledge yesterday's report from the House Judiciary Dems is beyond the pale

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

You can do the same thing, buying a house and borrowing against it—ha ha, just kidding, normal people get taxed annually on their wealth via property taxes, the "you can't tax wealth, the economy will collapse!" rule applies solely to the super-rich.

Steven T. Dennis@steventdennis.bsky.social

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

There was a brand new allegation that the president raped a woman in the 1990s yesterday and it appears to not be on the NYT homepage at all right now

It is short and so I assume they are looking into things but it is... interesting... that the NYT piece on the new House Dems report on Trump ties to Epstein simply does not mention the brand new rape allegation and says whatever this is instead www.nytimes.com/2026/10/26/u...

There are credible allegations of rape against the president, and evidence his administration has taken steps to cover up his relationship with the world's most notorious pedophile. This story is being covered more aggressively by People Magazine than the NY Times, Wash Post, or Wall St Journal.
