It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

I think it's important to interact with AI in a very carefully controlled way: specifically to understand exactly how toxic and terrible it is I only get it to return text in two conditions: (a) a topic I know well and (b) a question I **already answered**. You learn v quick how bad the answers are

newrepublic.comDoes Generative AI “Work”? That’s a Misleading Question.Generative AI works a lot like fossil fuels “work”—narrowly, intermittently, and with a lot of nasty side effects.
Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

One of the things that really shines through in these AI debates is how many of the antis refuse to actually use or touch the thing they're trying to criticize, which leads to claims that have this religious tenor and bear no resemblance whatsoever to real-world manifestations of AI.

The utter, utter stupidity … Cratering our higher education sector, with regional areas hit hardest, to pander to One Nation immigration politics. They pegged uni finances on intl students, and then started attacking the student visa intake.

Bizarre. Apparently it's "not about job cuts" but will somehow "create a fundamentally stronger institution", while the committee is led by ex Fortescue chair and seems to have no one from the three universities themselves.

Not long before this is three years old, and chatbots still cannot pass the unsolvable riddle test They will always be designed to spew out anything, because they're worthless to the companies if they were to ever be tuned to only give accurate or meaningful answers (they'd barely reply at all)

KetAnthropic JoshAI@ketanjoshi.co

Doing the inverse of this - making up a nonsense riddle for it to solve -kind of shows the problem with a program like ChatGPT. It will always try to generate a string of text in response to queries, and is obviously tuned towards saying *anything* at all. Hyper-verbal bullshit generator.
