I am reading a marvellous Walt Disney biography at the moment (it's the one by Neal Gabler) and discovering the sheer passion and ingenuity that went into not just making animation but figuring out how to do, well, any of it, especially by hand, just makes me loathe AI more and more.

If this is the end for Getty it's an absolute disaster for archive images and video. It's one of the top sources for documentaries and history books. Makes me absolutely furious that AI slop has neutralised one of the most valuable websites around.

Since New College is making headlines again I would like to once again commend my old stomping ground for prioritising student wellbeing and freedom to be LGBTQ without fear. I had a truly wonderful 2 years there. So many people just being open and proud of who they were, and accepted.

What about other nationalities? And how far back will they go? Am I going to have Harold Godwinson tutting at me cos I've holidayed in France a few times? Or do I also have to justify myself to Alexander Hamilton?

It’s pretty funny to be called “elite” for supporting trans people by a cigar-smoking, champagne-swilling, yacht-owning billionaire, but hey, why shouldn’t we all bow to the opinion of someone not trans, not queer, not a doctor, not a scientist, but who’s really really rich?

All this makes me wonder if there's a good argument for simply not having another console generation - at least for a very long time. The gains in graphics and processing will be marginal at best. Why bother? Make great games and people will still buy the current gen consoles.

Considering the amount of ROI we get in TV it is mad the government aren't stepping in to help. That's easy peasy jobs and taxable income/gains. Margins and budgets are being squeezed by affordability. Tax credits only get you so far and many small productions don't qualify.

My hot take on the coffee/interview debate is that a) bring coffee if you want but b) one of the reasons I got my current job (and I was told this by the interviewers!) was that I was offered a coffee and asked where to put my mug afterwards... So there is an advantage to not bringing your own.

I have just seen Coyote vs ACME for the 2nd time. It's very rare that I see a film more than once whilst it's still in the cinema but this 100% warranted a return visit.
