In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

Read and weep. Carole was a Cassandra a decade ago. How she was treated was a disgrace. Worse, how many lives have been lost & democracies damaged as many, especially UK govt, 'turned a blind eye' to Putin's 'active measures'? Incredible integrity and 'persevilience.' @alastaircampbell2.bsky.social

BBC report sanitises the overt racism: It notes that organisers warned marchers not to talk to journalists, then gives the "anti-immigration group"'s own sanitised description of itself. It does not report they chanted "England for the white man" in the streets. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Trump and Musk are just stringing Ukraine along and letting Russia attack it with impunity. And the American press is foolishly falling for blue smoke and mirrors, arguing whether Musk or Trump are responsible. Hint, they both are!

Elon Musk boosted the lie that James Talarico stayed at a mental hospital. Meta suspended No Kings’ Instagram account during nationwide actions. Staff at the Ellison-owned CBS News were reportedly told to tie Abdul El-Sayed to the Muslim Brotherhood and 9/11. Democracy dies in billionaire hands.

Turning Point UK was supposed to be a youth movement All it's ever done is appeal to middle aged thugs

Douglas Murray writes a commentary in the Spectator offering a modern mashup of Powellite/Elon Musketeer themes of choosing whether to be a spectator at their own funeral pyre - or to fight back. Closely echoes Elon Musk's "fight back or die" narrative (that violence may become necessary+legitimate)

When did the BBC description of Tommy Robinson change from ‘far right activist’ to ‘political activist’? Because that’s how he’s described on Radio 4 now

Thank you Ian. You never get time to say everything you intended to. I should have noted that what Trump considers pressure tactics, like suspending intel on Russian missile launches or messing with Starlink, is costing lives of civilians in Ukraine. That won’t be forgotten.

Wise words from @lordrickettsp.bsky.social on BBC R4 Today after Trump’s abandonment of Ukraine: UK gov’t has to start a conversation with the people about the threats from Russia & what it means for us. Europe can’t keep hoping that life will return to normal, as long as Trump & Putin are in power.

The trade unions resisting a political donations cap in the UK are ragged-trousered philanthropists. Thanks to their delusion that a system allowing limitless donations enhances their power, they're in danger of handing the country to the far-right parties that billionaires support. There we have it (again): “European companies face “devastating” retaliation from Washington if Brussels presses ahead with plans to restrict American rivals such as Elon Musk’s SpaceX from parts of the European market, the US ambassador to the EU has warned.” Coercion is a short-term strategy.

Two brief excerpts from Deep Connections on Starlink - The US has become aggressive about weaponizing entrenched dependencies to serve its coercive foreign policy - but is also undermining this dominance in the process. It’s a single use weapon. The world is watching and *will* diversify away.

Goodall vs Goodwin, a man so immersed in the study of radicalisation that he appears to have become radicalised himself. He cannot see the truth staring him in the face. He has become an example of the very phenomenon he studied. Seemingly immune to reason and unable to recognise what he has become.
