When news broke on Oct. 23 that a ship was reportedly carrying a new supply of Russian diesel for U.S. President Donald Trump, one question immediately arose: How, after more than 20 rounds of EU sanctions, could European ships still be involved in facilitating that trade?

The regime is partnering with known (and likely hidden) criminals to steal Venezuela's oil.
NEW: The Trump administration committed the U.S. to taking a large stake in a Venezuelan company, some of whose owners and investors are shielded from public view. The exact details of the agreement over oil fields had remained unclear — until now.

When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the war looked markedly different. The battlefield had clear boundaries. Then came the drones. The front line in Ukraine has since blurred into a miles-wide wasteland where drones fill the sky and neither side holds control.

Deleted my threads and Insta a few weeks ago and it felt liberating. I still have Facebook, but don't really use it and working on making it a shell that is only used for following community groups. Cybersec peeps I know have told me about the dangers of staying on these sites so glad I listened.
I think I left Facebook right on time and I’m slowly leaving Instagram now too. I’m working on self-hosting my blog to house my long form writing and use the internet like I used to. I need more RSS feeds and less algorithm influence in my life.

I think one of the implications of drone warfare going forward is that powers are going to have fewer alternatives to occupy-and-govern as solutions to problematic neighbors, which creates a nasty kind of zugzwang because modern warfare also makes occupy-and-govern hideously costly.
The Taliban is using FPV drones to attack Pakistani forces inside Pakistan, seemingly manufactured in Afghanistan with components bought off Alibaba:

This war really broke Jacobin and made them go Grayzone There was a time I found the reporting good and useful, one of the better magazines. It's been a long time, certainly not since Russia invaded Ukraine.
After years of warnings that the war in Ukraine could spiral into a full-on Russia-Europe conflagration, the conflict has reached a point where this is a real possibliity. It’s a prospect that threatens not just European lives but the entire globe.

That’s not a misprint - more Latino voters have cast a ballot already than did at the same point in the 2024 presidential election.
Remarkable: As of now, Latino early vote is outpacing where it was at same time in 2024 in both percentages of vote share and in RAW VOTE TOTALS. That's big. Presidential turnout is usually higher than midterms. I obtained new analysis from Dem firm TargetSmart: newrepublic.com/article/2164...
