I am interested in neurodivergent theologies and found a bunch of people on here to follow. I decided to turn that into a starter pack. Please suggest additions: i'm sure there are plenty of people I don't know about, plus many others like me joining the current Xodus wave.

The Guardian's homepage right now... 1. "UK approves Jackdaw gasfield in North Sea" 2. World must cut emissions by 18% in four years ‘to find our way back’, UN says

The approval of the Jackdaw gas field is an environmental catastrophe. But also, side-eyeing this from an industry which has lost THIRTY THOUSAND JOBS in the past five years, what the absolute fuck is this justification?

Leo Hickman@leohickman.carbonbrief.org

From the govt's press release: "The developer estimates that Jackdaw will create 27 new direct jobs and safeguard 273 existing jobs that would otherwise be lost." Odd that so much is made about this being good for jobs. Your nearest out-of-town supermarket likely generates more jobs.

Absolutely despicable behaviour from Brighton senior management. It's not exactly a secret how many uni managers hold their staff in contempt, but it's not often they make it *quite* so obvious as this.

University of Brighton management is threatening to tear up longstanding agreements protecting staff rights, working conditions and trade union recognition. UCU branch chair Ryan Burns explains what’s at stake and why members are fighting back.

I expect the reception history of this report will be like the that of the 'levels' of current support needed in two categories in the DSM-5 re: autism: All cautions, caveats, complexities, tentativeness ignored; document cited to support crude harmful simplistic views it explicitly opposes.

Sorry, typo in 3rd post: 2nd use of 'neurodivergent' shoud be 'neurodevelopmental', ie: I have noted one issue: apparent lack of understanding of the term 'neurodivergent' that narrows it to the medical category 'neurodevelopmental', & apparently misunderstanding 'neurodiverse' as 'neurodivergent'.

I haven't read the whole report so I'm not sure of my overall opinion of it. I have noted one issue: apparent lack of understanding of the term 'neurodivergent' that narrows it to the medical category 'neurodivergent', and apparently misunderstanding 'neurodiverse' as 'neurodivergent'. But ...

... the report's measured, limited findings, care, & caveats are being thoroughly ignored or violated by media* eager for the clicks that gaslighting disabled people brings, contributing to the harms the report warns of. * even just the 'centre'/'left' media I looked at: BBC, Guardian, Independent

Sagal Abdi-Wali seems impressive, strong local roots & inspiring story. Under Mahmood/Starmer’s policy, praised by Burnham (who’s retained Mahmood), Abdi-Wali would have been well into adulthood before being secure in her Camden home, with threats of deportation to where she fled from every 2.5yrs.

Next they’ll be proposing a section 28 for neurodivergence

Book on sale in supermarket book aisle shocker! Imagine becoming a journalist just so you can end up reporting negatively on a book which helps people. Next up the Telegraph's ongoing series "people use cookbooks to learn to cook".

Now I understand why I got diagnosed with ADHD, I probably saw something like this book encouraging me to “crowd out severe cases.” If not for that, me + society could still have been happily suffering from my lifelong hopelessness at various capitalism-valued tasks without self-knowledge or support

The University of Exeter has confirmed that it won’t proceed with compulsory redundancies “at this time”. This means colleagues do not need to complete the pro forma, and there will be no selection process.

A lot of bands’ story: 1984-89, classic lineup, big drama, much lore, 3 albums (1: finding their sound, 2: masterpiece, 3: good but one member too dominant, others leave soon after) 89-97, new lineup, 4 albums (average- good), ends 97 2005, orig lineup re-forms, 6 albs so far (haven’t listened)

Side projects from increasingly marginalised then acrimoniously departing members 1987-present, especially around 87-97, range from fantastic to fine. And yeah this is just Dinosaur Jr but I still think “a lot of bands’ story” pretty much stands

Gender complementarity's "separate but equal" has long been compared to the "separate but equal" of racial segregation, including noting that the "equal" is an abstract philosophical equality, while the "separate" means material inequality (that is its point). Cofnas links these logics explicitly.

let's be real: plagiarism scandals in academia happen all the time (not because academics plagiarize a lot, but just because of how many millions of faculty there are around the world) and it is never general-public news unless the culprit is a member of a minority.
