Your reminder that Elon Musk’s dad recently chummed up with Tommy Robinson in, er, Moscow.

(((Tendar)))@tendar.bsky.social

Poland’s Foreign Ministry Sikorski not only reminds Elon Musk that the USA haven’t been paying a cent to Ukraine in almost two years and in fact even benefited from the arms sales, but also schooled him that he is only damaging his brands when meddling in foreign countries.

Curious, that @sheffcitycouncil.bsky.social will at least attempt to clean up the city's air with an emissions charge for SOME vehicles, but not bother grouse moor owners setting fires upwind.

According to legend, it’s 31 years to the day since the Financial Times killed one of Britain’s finest poets? They didn’t mean to. It’s just that Gavin Ewart was 79, and the day before they’d bought him a lunch that involved enough booze to fell an ox. A glorious story, but is it true...?

Given how little we learned from China about the recent landslide on the Tibet-Nepal border, and the destruction of Rasuwagadhi, it will be interesting to see what emerges from the latest significant earthquake to hit Tibet.

Sally Rooney forced to pull books from the UK, meanwhile the far right can schmooze former prime ministers and, apparently, hire contract killers with impunity.

Blimey, the state of America. Murdering kids in a playground in Kharkiv one day, a humanitarian the next.

Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff called Vladimir Putin a “humanitarian.” “You talk so much about President Trump being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that. I commend you,” told Putin during their meeting.

Among Keir Starmer's worst deeds were his legislative and rhetorical attacks on nature protection. In those two wasted years, we spiralled backwards, even from the Tory legacy. At this week's biodiversity summit, the Burnham govt should pledge to turn that round. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Ten years ago today. In just the last few days: Trump made a deal for the U.S. to buy Russian diesel, an economic lifeline for Putin; he and Elon Musk blamed each other for an order that slowed down Starlink satellite connectivity over Ukraine...

I guess Clinton couldn’t imagine a Russian asset in the White House.

Sven-Erik Volberg@volberg.bsky.social

Milk so aged it could itself be a weapon. '94 President Clinton praises Ukraine’s courageous decision to surrender its nuclear arsenal, pledging full US support for its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also considers it unlikely that russia would ever attempt to seize Crimea.

When you consider that Russia has killed a bunch of children while Donald has been helping Russia get money to fund Russia doing it more, you can understand why Donald is so upset he didnt get the Nobel Peace Prize.

I try to get directions from a poet every day. They don't always know where they're going, but they know how to get there.

In the bus station I gave a bloke directions to the market. He walked away and then came back and said ‘Are you Ian McMillan? Not often you get directions from a poet!’ We laughed and went our separate ways.

Monbiot is spot on here. Was just up on my local moors looking at smoke from burning on a grouse moor. That smoke will soon be toxifying central Sheffield. Meanwhile an emissions charge in the city has alienated the population by penalising van drivers. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

20 years ago today Anna Politkovskaya, one of Russia’s most prominent investigative journalists, was murdered. I found no mention of the anniversary in today's Russian newspapers. #ReadingRussia

I hope she never gets near power, given her proposed assault on the the environment, and the madness of the Britannia Dome, but she deserves a nod for this.

“Zionism is racism” is not a policy but a slogan. It compresses a complex history, going back millennia, and a very wide set of beliefs into one narrow meaning. The answer to genocide is not discrimination. We don't fight racism with racism. I’m gutted to see this motion adopted by the Green Party.
