I was listening to my students buzzing the other day about movies they had or were planning on seeing and they were a 3hr documentary or a restoration of a notoriously banned film from the 1970s or a film where the protagonist spends its runtime inside of a whale. Maybe all. The kids are alright.

The point of the movie Starship Troopers is that Paul Verhoeven gets the audience to support the soldiers before slowly revealing to the audience that they’ve been duped into cheering for Nazis. Costumes play a huge role in this, providing a signifier that the humans might be the villains. 1/2
