There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Ugh. The whiny needledicks pulling the handcart to hell. I’d take whatever “feminine energy” is over brittle masculinity any day. Go to therapy and leave us all alone, you broken boys.

The govt should not be asking us to stockpile. They are not giving us enough information to do it. Many people haven't got the money to do it. They should think hard about what they can do to ensure supply chain resilience, or stockpile themselves [which they do with some medicines for eg].

On the other hand, I did stockpile some bourbon biscuits post-pandemic, which were quite handy to tuck into during my lean August this year 🤷‍♂️

There is already more than enough fossil fuel being extracted to cover demand while we switch to alternatives. We should be accelerating the switch, not adding to the problem. And there is so much more the government could do, right now.

Cosmoiselle reposted

Approving the Jackdaw gas field solves none of our problems, while contributing to the existential crisis of climate breakdown. The government has privileged special interests above the general interest. It's a shameful, cowardly decision.

And if it feels it has to for near term energy security reasons in a dangerous world then it needs to explain how it will accelerate decarbonisation and increase carbon removal capacity to keep overshoot beyond 1.5C as low and short as possible.

Cosmoiselle reposted

The problem is not really Jackdaw, which is pretty small. The problem is the UK's plan to transition away from fossil fuels is still not ambitious and detailed enough. The problem is if Rosebank follows. The problem is if every country develops one last fossil fuel project we're all screwed.
