It’s depressing to see schools use AI to create flyers, banners, & t-shirts. When I was in high school the faculty would come to the art department to have students create these things. I learned so many skills that have followed me my entire professional life. That’s what I thought school was for.

The art is not going well. The more I delve into it the more it descends into thematic madness. Each element works individually, but it’s fractally incoherent on any scale of bringing these elements together

When someone thinks verbal repentance and a few tears are all that is necessary for restoration to leadership or marriage, the addiction to deceit remains alive and well.

@canspice I was typing “AI assisted coding” and my iPhone auto corrected it as “AI assisted computing dong” and I couldn’t be more delighted that it was able to glimpse the real self behind the false self

I walk into the gas station bathroom and hear music. A guy is using the urinal, phone in his pocket blaring the national anthem performance at a football game. With one hand taking care of business; the other hand holding his hat over his heart. 😂😳😂

That's the whole point of raising the alarm about ballot fraud. So we can fundraise & build out the teams & infrastructure that it takes to *beat down ballot fraud.* "We have to be ready for ballot fraud this year" is the sound of the process WORKING.

FWIW a lot of this legal work is handled by state-level parties. That's why they're always asking for money. So they can hire the lawyers & squads of volunteer organizers that it takes to make sure elections happen like they're supposed to.

NEW: Every week, a Philadelphia nun drives to the immigration court in Harlingen, Texas, to sit beside unaccompanied children, some as young as four, who face a deportation judge with no lawyer and no parent. An undocumented migrant who is facing deportation called Sister Rose Kuhn his “angel.”

Sweeps are evil. I mean that literally. They are evil, they are dehumanizing, they are disruptive, they do serious harm to people, they make it harder for agencies to find people they were helping. If you participate in or support sweeps, you are wicked beyond redemption; you are unfit for humanity.

ProPublica@propublica.org

ProPublica spoke to dozens of people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.” We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words. ➡️ This is what they wrote:

To jump off this, if I’m at a con, please don’t feel obligated to come up with something clever before talking to me. Unless you catch me in the first hour of the first day, odds are good I’m not clever at that exact moment either. You can grunt “Book good!” and I’ll grunt “Yay!” and we’re fine.

Anise K. Strong@anisekstrong.bsky.social

I would presume that the best thing* to say to an author at a con is "Wow; I loved "cool detail in your obscure work that no fan usually mentions"; have a great day!" followed by a generic "I love your work; it's great to see you here." *Unless it is "I am a Media CEO; here is $$$$ for options."

Homelessness, hunger, poverty, addiction... all of these can be almost entirely wiped out by throwing money at the problem.

If they can't work or something is so wrong with them that they *won't* work they still deserve to be able to live without resorting to petty crime. Petty crime is one of many, many problems that CAN ACTUALLY BE SOLVED by throwing money, AKA resources, at it.

Hey you know what? Low-skill, low-motivation, and learning-challenged people deserve a living wage. You want to call them stupid? Call them lazy? OK well now we know you're a dick, and also stupid lazy people deserve a living wage. People deserve to be able to live without resorting to crime.

The issue isn't that the robots feelings are going to be hurt, the issue is that you train your soul to reach for cruelty and rudeness when you don't have to. There's no consequences for it except for the fact that there's a part of you that gets fed on it that doesn't know the difference.

Listen. If you're worried about losing your precious online harassment privileges 💀 there are still plenty of people & institutions that are doubling down, covering up, & never admitting they made a mistake. It's so easy to focus on them

I would like to propose the Taco Bell Principle When a person/institution Did A Problem, & IMMEDIATELY fesses up & takes proactive steps to solve it That's exactly what we want them to do? So how bout we let them live ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sarah Taber@sarahtaber.bsky.social

A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!

I am tech support to the bone and do not like to mystify computer stuff but I genuinely believe in my heart of hearts that printers have demons in them. There is literally no other explanation.
