That said, Bonica and Grumbach are absolutely right to go after spam texts and Ken Martin could actually put a stop to them by getting ActBlue to hammer spam PACs

Key thing to note here is that this is for spam texts only. But a far higher percentage of raises go to ads. Sherrod Brown's raised $61.6M this cycle and spent 88% of that on TV ads alone.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

okay 1) this is wild and scary but 2) this guy’s remarkably chill attitude about it is cracking me up

previously, it took just five years to lose $80 billion, but thanks to moore's law, a modern company can lose $80 billion in just under six months, a 10x improvement on the state of the art

That Rutger Hauer rewrote his death speech in Blade Runner from something that sucked into the “tears in rain” speech, probably the best death scene in movie history. The script version ended: “All those moments... they'll be gone.” lmao

Amy "Thunderjam" Chase@amythunderjam.bsky.social

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

Love that one TV show where the supposedly elite operatives at an English institution are fuckups led by a smelly old crank, the action scenes are hilariously incompetent and the intrigue is petty infighting. Every season is basically the same but there's something comforting about Manchester United

This is CBS News political correspondent and chief legal correspondent endorsing the overtly Christian Nationalist viewpoint that the U.S. Constitution doesn’t protect freedom of religion for anyone but (some) Christians.

Hearing from my sources that this "over the top" tweet from Jan Crawford is being discussed internally at CBS. At the same time, as those same sources noted, "Jan is protected by Bari" and has been a very vocal acolyte of Weiss. "She just can't help herself," one network insider said.

I think we’re going through a very overdue pendulum swing where a lot of bits of conventional campaign wisdom are DOA and you need to be able to do things like this, which is not an easy thing to do. I’m really impressed by El-Sayed.

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

I month or two back I saw Liz Phair and Sleater-Kinney in Berkeley. It was full of other old nerds. I saw a guy at the concessions wearing a pre-Firefox Mozilla contributor’s t-shirt which I also have, a pretty rare item.

I told him I had the same shirt, and asked him how he got it (I wondered if I knew him from irc back in the day). “Same was as you, I expect,” he said. “I provided pro bono legal counsel.” No, I told him, I just wrote some code. I assume I could figure out who he was if I tried.

Truly fascinating matchup. Feinberg is probably the fastest player in the league and I think there's a real chance he can take this against the itinerant Sizaak, who is nearly-perfect but extremely slow, just based on timer pressure in getting through the blinds.
