Look, if all they had changed was just enrolling and voting on polling day that would have been one thing, but stopping enrolling TWO WEEKS before election day is outrageous and even previous Nats who stopped prisoners voting had not taken such an outrageous step We should be angry out loud! #NZPol

Cory Doctorow's @doctorow.pluralistic.net work in both fiction and non-fiction is absolutely superb and essential reading for anyone interested in policy issues for tech, privacy, and AI. He's an amazing talent - brilliant, witty, always spot on!

I published my first story in 1988, when I was 17 years old. Today, at 55, I've published more than 30 books, with three more coming in the next year or so. In the intervening years, I've spent a lot of time thinking and talking about publishing.

The difference between Greens and TOP is that there are very particular ideas for Greens but TOP HAVE NO LINE IN THE SAND. A vote for TOP is a right wing vote. #nzpol

Top leader saying 'imagine the bad things that have happened this term that could have been stopped if the greens had been willing to work with National' shows exactly how naive they are as a party. #nzpol

Posting this, I just remembered saying to someone this weekend that I was enjoying hearing less 'greens, why won't you work with national' debates this election bc TOP is there...and now TOP decides to kick that dead horse 🙃

Really enjoying this minor party election debate- it’s time the NZ broadcasters stopped doing the boring 2 party staged pieces We’ve had MMP for over 30 years It’s time broadcasting caught up Well done TNVZ (& great chairing Tova !)

National ruled out working with the Greens last election. If the Greens worked with National, it would involve going against everything they stand for and snubbing their nose at all their supporters. They would lose all support come next election, bc voters wouldn't trust where they stand.

Regarding that UN vote on international cooperation during future pandemics, Luxo says this wasn't important enough to require a cabinet decision. The Covid pandemic killed at least 7.1 million globally. That tells you how little our prime minister values New Zealanders' lives. #nzpol

The major thing that always strikes me about these kind of things (also see Luxon's recent comment about die trying to get people off welfare) is the question of why work? Namely, why is work the ultimate goal for these people? There's nothing virtuous about work. Merely being in employment does...

consistently frustrated by progressive spaces heeding the liberal urge against conflict and giving way to the far right i think the left should be reflecting a fair bit more about where they won't cede ground, or acquiesce, rather than being forced into a final stand when most everything is gone
