Some team is always going to be the most screwed, and some team is always going to be the least screwed, and it changes every season and it changes during the season.

The random number generator sure is being stuck on Green Bay with the phantom grounding and the non call DPI (after the Cisse call)

My only kind of kidding answer for a remedy is that the president can pardon whoever he wants, but there are no blanket pardons, a pardon has to be for a specific crime and for a specific person, and it must be written by hand by the president and cite the specific law.

According to a YouGov/UMass Lowell poll released today, 58% of people would support a law banning online or app-based sports gambling and prediction markets (Kalshi/Polymarket was a listed example).

we gotta bring back shame, man society doesn’t work real well without consequences for being an enormous piece of shit in public

There is an interesting article to be written about how the people posting French revolution memes and pictures of guillotines are not all that different from the people who really wanted the firing squad live streamed, but many are not ready for that conversation.

I learned today that if I have two CC & Cokes and then watch the 1996 film 'Independence Day' in the company of my two children, I will cry when Randy Quaid dies.

My brother and I always talk about how important it is to have one of these kinds of jobs right out of high school. Something that grinds you down.

What Happened@heherenow.bsky.social

My pasty white mayonnaise-ass lasted 3 days as a landscaper when I ended up with sun poisoning. Just confirmed to 17 year old me that I needed to get into college.

It's funny how all these tech dorks like to talk about "natural hierarchys", or the "natural order" as if in a Hobbesian state of nature someone bigger and stronger wouldn't have just crushed their head with a rock. These people should be the most ecstatic we don't live in a "natural order".

I really do try to patronize locally-owned businesses, but damn, they make it so hard. In my experience, the non-chain places frequently aren't open when their listed hours claim they should be, and are far less responsive to any sort of attempt to contact.

There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

I do not think an exec branch led by a man who thinks he is entitled to treat federal agents as an arm of his firm, refers to Somali Americans as “garbage” and has said racist things specifically about Omar is capable of neutrally applying the law to her, to put it mildly apnews.com/article/ilha...

This is an issue that has to be attacked on two different fronts. We have to hold people legally accountable for making death threats, and also we have to elect people who will shake this shit off like a bad set of fleas, who will not be cowed. That's hard, I know, this shit is scary.

T. Greg Doucette@gregdoucette.bsky.social

Look, I'm not trying to be unsympathetic to the politicians in the article. But non-pols get these threats daily. Woman got doxxed and their kids threatened for disclosing they were harassed by a serial predator. I got an artisanal hand-written death threat mailed to my apartment. Deal with it.

ICC President Tomoko Akane responds to sanctions imposed by the rogue United States, ICC will not back down: "We'll be judged by history for the choices we make today." “The International Court will continue its work undeterred, with the firm resolve that justice must prevail.”

Anonymous@youranoncentral.bsky.social

The US blacklisted the International Criminal Court on 9 October 2026, just hours after former ICC judge Navi Pillay won the Nobel Peace Prize. Meanwhile, Donald Trump, a convicted criminal, has spent years shamelessly coveting the peace prize.

Huh. Hmmm. I'm not even a socialist, and I don't think that's what it means.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

Yellowjackets. There was one specific moment on season 2 where I said out loud, "alright, I'm good here" and never watched another minute

What TV show got so bad it effectively destroyed your appreciation for the show when it was was good?

I fully believe that this is Wayne's culture, because it's recognizably lower class white culture of the kind that JD Vance correctly excoriated in Hillbilly Elegy. However, it's not American culture or even PMC white culture. It's just hick culture.

I say this all the time at work, I'm like a broken clock. All of the management team (I work in manufacturing, for a company of about 200 people) have made comments to the effect of kids "should look into trades" and I always ask them if they sent THEIR kids to college. They don't love it.

talked about this before and again, i'm speaking as a third generation journeyman trades worker, but working in trades is not something that any of the people who write these pieces, or honestly most of you, respect at all. It's perceived as something you do when all the "good" options are gone.
